Chapter Six

Let me just say that Mary wasn't happy when Jaxon and I turned up at the apartment two hours later. To be exact, she was beyond angry at us first, but then realized that neither of us had a mobile phone, and also that Paul had left us there on purpose. After those realizations, her anger then transferred partly onto herself, because she didn't get me a mobile, and majorly onto Paul, because he left us there.

Mary welcomed Jaxon with open arms, and allowed him and I to share our room. We were only allowed to share a room because we were brother and sister, and also because there were no other spare rooms in the apartment. Jaxon even offered to sleep on the couch, but Mary would not hear of it. She insisted that he would share a room with me.

That's how I ended up helping Jaxon unpack all of his new stuff. His clothes were hung up in the other side of my built in wardrobe, from shortest to longest, his shoes were sitting under his hung up clothes, his underwear were in the top drawer of my other ebony bedside cupboard, along with his new journal, and his socks were in the second drawer. His toothbrush, and hairbrush, were in the small cupboard under the sink in my - our - en suite.

Jaxon and I end up getting a Samsung Galaxy SII each. We have each others numbers, as well as having Mary's number and Paul's number. Jaxon types in a few other numbers from memory and tears up when he added to specific ones. Mother and Dad. I half hug him before installing some cool looking apps.

"What did you install, Vi?" Jaxon asks.

I shrug. "It's called Bejeweled."

"That's a really cool game. You have to match three or more gems multiple times to pass a level. You can play it for hours and never get bored."

"It's a good game for me then."

"If it's a good game for you, then it's definitely a good game for me too."

Jaxon installs Bejeweled as well and we both get Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. It is always good to be connected to the world around us. I also installed a tracking device for mobile phones. I typed in some random ass stuff and soon I had Jaxon being tracked. A dot showed up on the mini map on my screen, showing me exactly where he was.

I do the same for Mary's phone and Paul's phone. Mary's dot shows up in the living room, and Paul's dot shows up at the Scarborough Bluffs in Ontario. I show Jaxon and his eyes narrow at where Paul is right now. I download the tracking device onto Jaxon's phone and track both Mary's and Paul's mobile phones for him.

"I am going to murder that son of a bitch," Jaxon growls.

I frown. "Why? What did he ever do to you?"

"He didn't do anything personally. He just sent his lackeys after us."

"What?"

"Oh..."

"What?"

"You don't remember. That's right."

"Jaxon, what are you going on about?"

"When you remember, you're going to have to find me."

***

Paul came back to the apartment at around six at night blind rotten drunk and cursing loudly every time he ran into something. Mary kicked him out of their room for the night, and he ended up passing out on the couch. A half empty bottle of Jack Daniel's sat on the coffee table until Jaxon stole it right from under Paul's nose, and brought it back to our room.

He nicked us a few glasses and we sat out on the balcony until all hours of the morning having a few drinks and debating whether or not to read the brilliant red book I had hidden in my top draw. Jaxon debated against it as we were slightly drunk and would not be able to read it properly, and I wouldn't be able to try remember all of the things that were written in the book.

"What's the use of the stupid book if I can't read it?" I ask. "It's just sitting there collecting dust!"

"It's use?" Jaxon chuckles. "Right now it has no use as you are too drunk to read it."

"Okay Mr 'Bossy Boots'. When is it going to be of use to me?"

"When you are sober."

"What's sober?"

Jaxon laughs and I have to join in because I am so stupid; I have to laugh at my own stupidity. Of course I know what sober is, I just can't be bothered to stop drinking the Jack Daniel's to become sober once again. Being like this means that I can forget about the problem of being a murder suspect, and being with another murder suspect.

"We are drunk murder suspects," Jaxon chuckles. "Who knows what we are going to get up to?"

"How about nothing illegal," I suggest. "Mary will kill me if she finds out we did something like that."

"I'm more worried about Mr Paul Stone finding out."

"Aye. You have a point there."

"I know I do. He is a ruthless monster in his own horrid way."

"I'll take your word for it."

"For now."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that one day you are going to see it with your own eyes how much of a ruthless monster he is."

"And again I am going to say that I'll take your word for it."

Jaxon laughs again. "You haven't lost your cheekiness."

I smirk. "And you haven't lost your teasing abilities."

"You remember that???"

"I only remember you."

"Do you want to know why that is, Vi?"

I nod and he leans towards me.

"It's because we were the closest out of everyone in our family. We were even closer than Nathaniel and Gracia."

"And now I've forgotten."

"I am going to help you remember."

"How?"

"By showing you."

What we got up to after that is something I am not going to speak of. All I am going to say is that it didn't go to well when we woke up the next morning...
