Before I even knew it, September 1 had arrived. My parents took me to platform 9 3/4 and I hesitated at the entrance. Several people passed me by and went in before I mustered up enough courage to run straight towards a seemingly solid brick wall. A moment later, I was in the hidden platform.

My parents followed me in and I looked at the clock. "I only have a few minutes." I quickly hugged my parents and told them that I would write often. "I love you guys."

"We love you too. Now go get on the train!"

By then, everyone who was still not on the train were scrambling to get on. I hurriedly put away my luggage and jumped on the train. Kids were waving out of the windows at their parents and the train suddenly began to move. Having not found a seat yet, I fell forward and braced myself to hit the ground, but I never did.

"Be a little more careful first year!" Said the girl who had caught me. She was holding on to the hood of my jacket and had a mean smirk on her face. "Who is it, Amber?" Someone from inside her compartment called. "Just some franky first year." She suddenly let go of my hood and I hit my nose on the floor. I turned to look at the jerk and noticed how pretty she was. Auburn hair, green eyes, and was willowy. It's not fair that the mean people are always pretty. "Amber! What did you do that for!" Someone yelled from a little further down the aisle. It was Teddy. "I didn't mean to! Her hood slipped." She said innocently, batting her long eyelashes. "Here let me help you up." Amber held out her hand, but I just ignored it and stood up on my own. "Nice to meet you too Amber." She couldn't help but laugh at my accent. "That's... Interesting." Amber grinned at me and then walked back in her compartment. I turned to leave and then heard the burst of laughter from behind me. "Don't listen to them, come on, you can sit with us." Teddy said, leading me back to where he was sitting. "Thanks."

"No problem. Hey, guys, this is Carly. She's a first year from America!"

In the seats were two boys and a girl that looked like triplets. They all had the same blonde hair and blue eyes. "Hi Carly! I'm Emma and these are my brothers, Edgar and Edward! We're second years."

I instantly felt a wave of shyness come over me and I gave a timid wave. Then I sat by the window, across from either Edgar or Edward, and Teddy sat down beside me. "Carly officially met Amber. That's why her nose is bruised. She-"

"What? My nose is actually bruised!" I knew that it hurt pretty bad, but I didn't know that! I frantically looked in my reflection on the window, and, sure enough, my nose was badly bruised. "Wow! Cool accent!" The triplets were marvelling. "Say something else."

"This sucks."

"Even that sounds cool."

"Calm down Carly! Here, put some of this on it. It'll be gone in about an hour." Teddy handed me a small container of some sort of cream. It was yellow and smelled funny. "Go on then. I got it from the Weasley's shop. It'll work." I put on the cream and my nose instantly stopped throbbing. "Wow. Thanks!" I said, giving him the cream back. "You keep it. I think you'll need it more than I will. So, what house you think you'll be in?" I had thought about it a little and secretly hoped I'd be in Gryffindor. "I don't know." I said. "I haven't really thought about it. Actually, I barely even know the houses."

"Ooh! I'll explain!" Said Emma. "There's Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Gryffindor is what we're all in, and it's the best! It's where the brave awesome people go! You don't want to be in Slytherin! That's where all the mean people are-"

"Like Amber! She's a rotten fourth year!" One of her brothers added.

"Yeah, like Amber. Anyways, then there's Ravenclaw where all the smart people go, and then Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is kind of where the losers go."
