Chapter 3
Shopping. It wasn't always a pleasant thing to do. Especially for people my size. Gah.
"Oh, don't be such a downer sweetheart. We'll find you something absolutely fantabulous to wear!" My mother said with a bright enthusiasm.
I don't really understand how she can be so enthusiastic all the time. It's kinda disturbing. Maybe it's because I'm her daughter and she's supposed to make me feel enthusiastic. I don't feel enthusiastic though.
"Yeah, we'll find you something," Veronica smiled sweetly. I don't know about you, but to me she seemed a little to sweet. Usually Veronica isn't one to be sweet. She's sassy, sexy, and a great best friend who will not hesitate, usually, to tell me, demand me, to wear something sexy.
"Maybe you should get a muu muu?" Veronica said.
I looked up at her, my cheeks heating quickly. I can not believe she just said that. Did she just say that? Veronica would never usually suggest that I wear something so....so... offending.
My mother glared at her, "Veronica!" she hissed, she as livid. Pissed. I don't know why, I was used to things like that. Just not from Veronica.
"No!" Veronica shook her head, "I mean, Mrs. Oscar you're so good at designing an altering things that you could change the muu muu into something," From the nervous look on her face I could tell that, it was actually a quick save.
"I will have you know that never in my Iife will I touch one of those. And nor will my daughter," She rolled her eyes at Veronica. You did not want to get on my mom's bad side. She would literally bring you down.
"Oh. Okay. It was just a suggestion," Veronica huffed indignantly. Yeah, right.
I shrugged, "Mom, can we go get pretzels from Old Anne's?" I asked, I was hungry. I deserved something to eat.
Veronica snorted, looking at a dress nearby.
My mother grinned and nodded at me, "Yeah. Come on. Veronica you can meet us at the front of the mall," she told V and walked me briskly out the store.
"I don't like that girl," She immediately said once we were away.
"Mom, she's been having a hard time lately," I defended, "Cut her some slack."
My mom sighed, "I suppose so sweetie. I just really don't like her with a passion." Neither does dad. I guess I see why. She can be very moody and cruel when she goes through things.
We walked up to Old Anne's Pretzel's and as always I got a cinnamon pretzel and mom got a pizza pretzel. We waited patiently and thanked them when they gave them to us.
We sat at one of the benches. The mall was really a place to relax. We would be getting our nails done next.
"Ooo...look over there Luna some guy is staring at you," My mom giggled like a school girl. In heart, she really was one.
I looked over and blinked. Someone was staring at me indeed. He had dark brown hair and green eyes. He look like he worked out in the gym every day and never drunk coffee.
I wonder why he was staring at me the way he was. He slowly smirked when he caught me looking.
I looked away quickly my face burning up. My mother was smiling at this encounter.
"You should go talk with him," she smiled, "You know, flirt."
I shook my head and finished the last piece of my pretzel, "Nah, he's probably just staring off into space."
My mother groaned, "Oh. You are no fun, come on." We got up and threw our trash away.

The Chinese lady doing my nails kept smiling at me. I don't know why. Hmmmm....?
"You are very beautiful, yes," She patted my hand an worked on my nails. I blushed, that was very nice. Though Chinese people to me were the nicest. They see more than normal people do.
"Umm...t.thank you," I said. I didn't know what else to say. I looked over at Veronica who just rolled her eyes at the Chinese lady. It's a good thing she was turned towards me an not Veronica. I wouldn't want V to be banished from the Nail Salon.
"You know, I have son..." The lady...huh her name was Cheri..like cherry with an i, "I think he would like you," she smiled.
I laughed, yeah right! "How old is he?"
"Oh! He 21!" She said enthusiastically.
I smiled, "I'm only 18," I said.
"Oh it no matter. I want him to have a girl with such voluptuous curves. Someone who'd actually be able to feed him an bear my grandchildren," She finished filing one nail.
Omg. I know she did not just say that. Did I hear that?
"His name is Shang, or at least that's what I call him. His father, is American, so we decided to name him Samuel but I call him Shang." She smiled with a mothers love.
"Oh. That's nice," I nodded.
"Yes an your name," she asked.
I kinda considered giving her a fake name, but I'm not mean, "Luna Oscar," I said.
She nodded, "I am sure you an my son will bear me great grandchildren."
If he ever gave me a second glance that is. Or if I ever came back here an made an effort to meet him.
Little did I know, my mom an Cheri are best friends.
