Chapter 3: Dreams Carry You Away

(Just to make this clear this is Yuzuki's POV. The italics means she's dreaming.)

"Keiko, why am I different? I even dream different." I asked my sacrificial mother.

"Your life, the one you lived before this, had to have been bad. You could have had parents that liked to hurt you, or you could have been an orphan. When things come to a point where everything is bad, people tend to want to... Get away somehow. They don't want to live in a life that isn't worth living. When you are a child of the Moon, you get an escape." She responded not looking up from sewing.

"Why do I dream different? I even dream different from Sakura." Keiko looked up at me. She had panic all over her face.

"What does Sakura dream about?" She asked nervously.

"She told me she dreams about her past life. Only little bits and peices but she does. I asked some others, and they do too. I don't dream about my past life."

"Well what do you dream about?"

"I dream about wars. Very bloody wars. I see me, Sakura, and a lot of others. It scares me. In the dreams I see those of Golden light and those of Silver light fighting against each other. I don't know what to do Keiko."

"Y-you dream of wars? And you and Sakura are in them?" Her eyes widened. "I-i have to go." She threw her sewing on the floor and got up. She started running through the doors of the Holding House. She took off towards the Doyen's room. I ran after her. She closed the giant doors to Doyen's office. I put my ear against the door.

"Doyen! Doyen! It has started. Yuzuki is having the dreams. She has identified Sakura, but that is all." She announced to our leader.

"That is all?" His incredulous booming voice replied.

"She said she saw others, but she only recognized Sakura. We need the book. She has to point the others out."

"Hai. She must. Daisuke go get the book."

"Hai." There was absolute silence except for Daisuke's steps. Suddenly I heard a loud thump on Doyen's desk, like a book dropping on it.

"Bring her."

"Hai." Keiko's small voice said. She started to walk towards the door. I scrambled to get up and ran towards the room. I sat down just as she opened the door.

"Yuzuki, the Doyen wants to see you." She said cautiously.

"Hai. I will go."

I got up and slid past her. I went to the Doyen's gigantic office.

"Keiko you may leave. I don't need you any further." I hadn't realized Keiko was following me. She stepped away and closed the big doors. I was all alone with the Doyen.

"Shizuoka Yuzuki. Please sit." I sat in front of his desk. "I have heard that you have been having a reaccuring dream lately."

"It is more like a nightmare, but yes. I have been having the same dream for about seven months."

He nodded in response. "I have the record of everyone that is currently staying here. Point them out."

I looked at every face and name in the book. I slowly pointed out several people in the book. I told the Doyen that they were in the war, but they were only a small amount compared to the new ones I had seen.

"I will send you to America to recruit new people. You may only take a small amount of helpers. They have to be ones part of your journey."

I flipped through the book.

"Sakura." I said once I found her picture. They pulled her page out of the book.

"Nozomi." The Doyen looked baffled, but he tore her page out.

"Tatsuo."

"Kayato."

"Takeshi."  One by one, Doyen pulled their pages out.

"That is all." I squeaked out.

"Are you sure?" He said.

"Hai."

"Okay. You and the ones you chose shall start training tomorrow." He said. Then he dismissed me. I walked in silence to the room.

"Dreams carry you away." Keiko said once I walked in.

"What?"

"When you dream, you tend to take a step away from reality. Dreams carry you away. My advice is that you focus on one thing you love. That keeps you anchored to reality." She said. I opened my mouth to ask what she meant, but she put a hand up to stop me.

"I am going to bed. Do not disturb my peace." With that, she left. She left me with a million unasked questions, but with much more understanding.

The next morning I started my training at eight years old.

はい (which is hai) is yes in Japanese. And on the part where the Doyen says her name backwards- Japanese and Chinese people say the last name then the first name. So Yuzuki's full name is Yuzuki Shizuoka.

The part when she says Takeshi's name is when she says it after Tatsuo kissed her. ;) Surprise surprise. How did you guys like it? Comment ideas for the next part! Please vote!
