"Josh, I can't do this anymore! I'm done!"
You quickly picked up the handle of your packed suitcase, along with your bags, and walked straight out the door, ignoring whatever it was your ex-boyfriend had to say to you. He had hurt you one too many times, and you were done forgiving him.
Six weeks had passed since that day, and you hadn't seen or heard from Josh since then. You didn't mind all that much, because, after all, you had walked out on him, but you were a little upset that he hadn't tried to win you back. You knew that you needed to move on, and took the fact that he hadn't tried anything as a hint, he had moved on, so you should too.
Sitting at the table in Starbucks, you sipped your hot chocolate as you flicked through a fashion magazine, trying to take your mind off of things. As you looked at the pages in front of you, you heard a familiar voice in the room.
"Hi, can I get a coffee please? My name's Josh."
You looked up, seeing a tall, blonde haired boy standing in line at the till, ordering his drink. Your face flushed, your cheeks turning a bright pink colour as you looked down at your magazine again, hoping he wouldn't see you. You couldn't break down in public, not over him.
"Jess?"
You frowned, scrunching your nose slightly as you looked up, a pair of ice blue eyes looking at you as you did.
"Josh, I really don't want to speak to you. Please go back to pretending that I don't exist?"
He sighed softly, his full lips pouting as you brush him off. You rolled your eyes and gestured to the chair opposite you, "may as well sit down then, but if I don't like what you're saying, I'm leaving," you finally said.
Josh sat down in front of you, looking down at his hands before taking a deep breath. "Jess, I really messed things up before. I miss you," he started to tear up as he spoke, visibly upset by what had happened a month and a half ago.
"I-I don't even remember what we were fighting over now, but, I know that things haven't been the same without you around, and I haven't been able to find a way to say it, but I'm sorry. I know it was my fault, and it kills me knowing that I'm the reason that you left. You know that I hate seeing you hurt, and in the end, I'm the one who caused it."
You sighed softly, hesitating as you reached out to hold his hands. You gently rubbed the backs of his hands with your thumbs, frowning as you felt a tear rolling down your cheek.
"Josh, it wasn't entirely your fault, but, I think we may be better off apart rather than being together. We did nothing but fight towards the end."
"And I promise you, if you give me another chance, I swear on my life, I will do whatever I can to prove to you that I love you more than anything. Please don't give up on me? I really do love you."
You really weren't sure if you should trust him again, but, you knew that, deep down, you loved him, and that he was the one and only person that you could spend the rest of your life with.
"Josh...if I take you back, there's things we need to work on, ok?"
"Of course, I'm willing to do anything, honestly. You'll see that soon enough if you give me a chance."
You nodded slowly, finishing your hot chocolate, gently biting your lip as you closed your magazine. You stood up, looking down at Josh before smirking slightly.
"Well, I'm going home...are you coming with me? I might need some help packing everything up again."
He stood up, his eyes lighting up as he smiled. You felt his soft lips brush against your cheek as you gently took a hold of his free hand, the two of you walking out together, like it was always meant to be.
