"Look, kid," you say, "I think the best thing for you to do, is stick with your baby brother right now. He needs his big bro to keep him safe. Can you do that?"
Archie thinks about it for a second, then smiles at you. "Right," he says with the most determined look you've ever seen on any face. "See ya."
"Hope so," you say as he jogs back down the hall.
You dash forward, opening doors. A closet, a restroom, a Sunday school room. Nothing you can barricade yourself in and survive. You expected a storage area. Shouldn't churches have clothes and canned foods for the homeless and needy? These rooms are useless...well, for this particular situation.
You're wrapping your fingers around another knob when they burst through to congregational hall. It takes a second before chorus of screams almost bursts your eardrums and sets your heart pounding with fresh fear. The knob turns and you see a storage room, but someone sinks their teeth into your shoulder from behind before you can go in. They pile on you as your vision and the sounds fade.
