Chapter nineteen

Chapter 19

My eyes fluttered open and were met by a blinding light. I squinted my eyes so they would adjust. I tried to sit up but I couldn't get my limbs to move. I lifted my head and found myself strapped to a hospital bed.

"What the...?"

My eyes came into contact with a head passed out on my pillow and it was then I realised Liam's hand was also gripping mine

"Liam?" I spoke my voice croaky, my lungs burned with the effort of speaking and it all came back to me. The smoke in the woods.

Liam's eyes snapped open and he sat up.

"Thank god are you ok? Do you hurt anywhere? How sore is it? Do you want pain killers? I think your allowed morphine, do you want more morphine?"

"And breathe, I'm fine seriously, I'm not in pain , just my lungs burn a bit when I talk. Or breathe in." I cringed.

"I'll get the pack doctor just stay put."

I gave him a pointed look towards the straps. I wasn't exactly going anywhere anytime soon.

"Oh yeah. You were taking fits when you were unconscious. A reaction to the poison that the pack doctor will explain in a minute if you'd let me get him!"

"hold on PACK doctor?" I said, fear in my eyes.

"Emm.... Let me get you that doctor."

"Liam?" but it was too late he'd slipped out the door, surely he didnt take me to our pack! Well I can't really call it my pack because I was a foolish jerk!

"yes you can call it your pack."

My head snapped up to the door and the Alpha was standing with my dad behind him. All alpha's can hear thoughts of their pack. Well anyone with the alpha bloodlines. Unless it's your mate because all mates need privacy to some extent I guess.

"After all you are the Alpha Female." he smiled.

"I'm WHAT?" I shouted in shock, my chest restricting.

"I decided to drop down. You brought me back my son. You looked for him even though all hope was gone. You looked for him even though anyone would have thought themselves as deluded. You are a worthy Alpha Female. You are the White Wolf and you will lead my pack along side my son. You have my blessing."

Tears pierced my eyes. It is a huge honour to receive the Alphas blessing to mate. Everything he said touched my heart.

"Thank you Alpha"

"With all due respect Callie, call me Darren. My Alpha." I couldn't help the grin that leapt to my face their eyes held such pride and love.

"Thank you Darren."

"Aw Dad I wanted to be the one to tell her." Liam whined entering the room. Darren and my dad took the long brown leather chair along the wall of my room and Liam returned to his seat next to me.

"Nice to see you awake Alpha. Ok so I'm just going to check your vitals." he shone the light pen in my eyes and then took my temperature and checked my ears and heart rate. Then finally my oxygen levels.

"right so there is no brain or head injury, which is surprising due to the length of time you have been in a coma. Which has been two weeks incase your wondering. Your ears look fine. Your temperature is a little high but I'm sure thats due to the low oxygen level and slow heart rate, which all leads me to how are your lungs feeling?"

I breathed in testing them.

"They aren't sore but they burn when I breathe in and when I speak."

"The surface has been damaged by the poison. Your lucky your mate got you here when he did and he's very lucky that you shooed him away. The poison you inhaled was hydrochloric gas. It's a commonly used gas by hunters to kill small animals like, rabbits, deer and foxes. Your body raised in temperature to fight it off which caused you to pass out. But you seem to be fine so we don't need to take any x-rays and once you have a drink of water, and pain killers I will be happy to discharge you. But if you feel any further symptoms do not hesitate to come back."

"yes sir." I laughed.

After receiving two paracetamol and a glass of water which I chugged happily and forcing down a slice of toast. I was off home. My actual home with my actual bed. Memory foam. Mm!

We pulled up outside my house and after glancing at the clock on the dashboard, 10pm, I climbed out the car with Liam's help and drew in a deep breath, cringing in at the sting. I set off towards my door and was met by the sound of the front door opening and feet pounding towards me.

"Callie!" Jace shouted scooping me up and spinning me around. A gasp left my mouth in pain. Immediately he put me down. And a growl echoed from Liam.

"sorry babe." he said, watching Liam and taking me into his arms. His hand slipped bellow my waist onto my ass and I leaped back at the sane time Liam dove forward and snatched Jace by the throat.

"get your filthy hands off her. She is mine! And I am your Alpha! You will submit."

"Liam leave it he was just playing." I begged. I hated when Alphas used there power.

"Submit." Liam snarled. And Jace dropped his head offering his neck. Before I could say anything I was grabbed from behind.

"Emilyyy!" I screamed. "god I missed you." I turned grabbing her in a death grip, ignoring the twinge.

"Ahem." a deep gruffy voice coughed.

"Storm." I nodded. He nodded back then looked towards Liam for permission.

"I'll hug my cousin if I want." I beamed. Grabbing him and hugging his warm chest.

"missed you my wee buddy. And you be more careful in the future ! I'm going to need to work on that anger with you. But your tired so bed."

As if on cue I yawned and Liam was by my side lifting me in his arms.

"I do have legs you know."

"uh huh. But I'm letting you milk the situation here. The least you can do is let me treat you like my princess."

"ok. You win." I smiled, closing my eyes and snuggling into his warm chest.

"Liam?"

"Yes baby?"

"I'm glad your alive. And I love you. My mate."

" I love you too. Mine." and I could hear the smile in his voice as I drifted into a peaceful sleep.
