Sorry its been so long!

Chapter 23 :-

I felt a breath against my face and opened my eyes to see jace with a pouted lip and a gloom expression.

He was sprawled out on the bed next to me, in Liam's spot, on Liam's pillow and it felt wrong.

*move him* my wolf whined.

*hush up, he's my best friend* I reasoned, she let out a huff and returned to her dormant, pregnant state.

"Why hello there sunshine, your happiness is contagious. When did you return home?". I asked, humour in each word.

Jace had been called for by his alpha and was asked to return to fufil some of his beta duties, it had been two whole months since I saw him and to say I missed him was an understatement. I reached out and brushed his chocolate brown hair from his head and pushed it back.

"Your pregnant." He stated, no questioning.

"Liam told you? I asked him not to tell anyone yet and he said he would, that man couldn't hold his own piss, I tell you! I'm not surprised he blabbed, I just didn't expect him to blab so soon. I wanted to tell you, not have you find out by him boasting." I rammbled on while Jace lay silent.

"He didn't tell me."

"Then how did you know?" I asked puzzled.

He snorted humourlessly, "Really Callie? Do you know anything?"

"I don't like this tone your taking with me!" I warned, what is his problem.

"What do you expect, I leave thinking there's the slightest chance that we could work out. He was DEAD Callie, he was supposed to be dead. And stay dead in fact! Oh no...he just has to, by some form of fucking miracle be alive, come back and fuck everything up. You just had to take him back. You've never even gave me a second glance, I've loved you all our life, why hasn't that ever been enough for you?!"

I lay there shocked, my eyes bulging.

"And to answer your question, the smell of your hormones has changed. Any and EVERY wolf in this vacinity will know your pregnant with one sniff." He snapped out and got up from the bed, I still couldn't form words.

"I tell you I'm in love with you and you don't even answer me....typical. Your nothing but a heartless cow."

That snapped me and awoke my wolf, "No you listen here Jace. I love you too but as a friend! Nothing more. Your love has been enough to get me through the years but its a FRIENDSHIP Jace a friendship. Liam is my mate, he is the only one I will ever love. I'm carrying his children for god sake, I'm his, I will never be yours. As harsh as I sound this is the reality. Now go because I can't handle stress at the moment."

Without a single word he turned and left the room. Tears welled up in my eyes and I wiped them away furiously. Refusing to cry over our little argument.

*poor boy* my wolf whispered.

*dont go blaming me or ganging up on me*

*no I did not mean it like that, his wolf is broken and confused. He's facing the pressures of a beta and loosing his best friends*

*he's not loosing me, I've gone nowhere, he's the one that's going to distance our relationship"

"It's not long now before you realise. Remember what I told you, two more months and you should demand a blood test"

*why do you confuse me with your riddles, can't you just tell me?*

She remained quiet and I groaned out frustratedly. My stomach let out a loud growl suddenly and I rose from the bed and put on my gown, not bothering with any other clothes as I knew Jace had stormed out and no one else was in.

My phone let out a shrill and I hurried to answer it, in result silencing its cries.

"Hello?" I questioned.

"Hey baby" a deep familiar voice rang in my ears, evoking butterflies in my stomach.

"Mm, hey honey." I replied.

"Ohh, why do you sound so sexy, is someone missing me?" Liam asked.

"Deffinitely." I chuckled.

"Well I just rang to say I'd be home in five minutes and that I'm bringing in cheese toasties for myself and wondered if you wanted anything?"

"Ughh, cheese toasties, vile! Emmm...ohhh bring me a ham toastie please?"

"Ok baby. See you in five - one ham and one cheese toastie please - so don't move from my bed."

I laughed, "I'm in the kitchen just now."

"Yummm, sex on the island" I could hear that behind his joke there was seriousness evident.

"If you hurry baby." I whispered seductively. The line cut off and I laughed. Feeling like being a good mate I reached down and untied my rope on my dressing gown and dropped it to the floor. I sat up on the counter and waited.
