Today is the big day. I will finally be speaking to Mark about my songs. I'm sat at the computer waiting for them to come online. Glen's been trying to calm me down for a whole hour, but it's not been working.

“What can I do to help? Is there anything I can do?”

“No! There is nothing in the world that can keep me calm right now!”

“I'm sure if I shot you with a horse tranquillizer...”

“Really, Glen? You're really going to go there?”

“Oh come on, Em. I was joking.”

“I'm sorry. I'm just...”

“I know. I just want to make you relax a bit.”

“Like I said. I don't think there is anything.”

“Well...maybe if we...you know...”

“Seriously?!”

“You always seem relaxed afterwards!”

“Yeah, but that's different.”

“You never usually complain. In fact, you're normally quite keen.”

Before I can answer, I hear the Skype call music. This is it.

“Shit,” I whisper. Glen has come straight over to me. “Wish me luck.”

He kisses me gently. “You'll be amazing, babe. I know it. Good luck.”

“Will you stay?”

“Sure. I'll stay over here.” He goes and sits down on the end of the bed. I take a deep breath and click answer.

I see Rina. She's a beautiful blonde woman with the kindest smile I've ever seen. Next to her must be Mark. A bald man with a slight ginger beard and a grin that would match Glen's. Sat next to one another, they make such a cute couple. Rina waves at me and I smile nervously.

“Emie, how are you?” she says in her thick, Texan accent.

“Not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous.”

“Aww, honey, don't be! Mark won't bite, will you?” She puts her arm around him and he grins cheekily at me.

“Not much,” he teases. His Irish accent is still so strong. How can it be like that when he's been away from here for such a long time. “So, you wrote all them songs then?”

“Yeah.”

“And who's the singer?”

“That would be me again.”

“And the instruments?”

“The piano and guitar is me. The drums is my boyfriend.”

“Your boyfriend?” He looks at Rina. “Oh, is that Glen?”

“Yeah, that's him,” she answers. “I told you about him, remember? Emie told me he was an amazing drummer.”

“Damn right he is!” Mark says, looking back at me. “Is he there?”

I look over at Glen, who's eyes have gone wide. I motion for him to come over, and he slowly gets up and join me.

“Glen!” Rina smiles. “So good to finally meet you. Emie talks about you all the time.”

He grins. “You too. She's always looking forward to your emails.” He looks at Mark. “How you doing, mate?”

“Not bad, bud. I hear you were behind the drumming in Emie's songs.”
