My alarm goes off at 6:30. Just like it did back in New York. I just wish I could go back. I get up and eat breakfast in ten minutes. Picking out my outfit was easy because, I can wear any outfit I wore earlier in the week. I decide to curl my hair today. The bus comes at 7:00. Its 6:50 right now. If I get out of the house as soon as I can, I'll have some extra time with Garret. "BYE GUYS!" I yell as I leave. I guess they're still asleep. I check the trash can for the sweatshirt. Its still buried at the bottom of the trash, just like I put it last night.
The bus stop is only a few steps away from grandma's house. I see Garret leaning against the bus post. "Hey." Says happily. "Hi." We start talking about our families. We are having a good conversation until, this gorgeous girl comes over. She is even better looking I am. "Who's this? " She asks Garret. "My new neighbor Madison. Our families are friends". "Oh." She says surprised. "I thought she was a random stalker." She laughs. I don't. "I'm Gianna." "I'm Madison". "Madison? Thats my grandma's name! I'm about to get ticked off when she says, "JK!" Garret is just standing there during all of this. He's not even standing up for me. The bus arrives exactly at 7:00. I get on and am ambushed by whistles. But not as much as Gianna. Every boy on the bus was whistling and begging her to sit with them. Even the kindergarten boys! She decides to sit with a beefy guy wearing a letterman jacket. I find an empty seat and fortunately, Garret sits with me. He keeps turning around and looking at Gianna and the beefy guy. Finally, I just get fed up with this. "You like her?" I ask him. "Can you keep a secret?" "Sure". I say. "I like her so much. She is so Perfect. I love every little thing about her." My heart sinks. I thought he would talk about me like that. I suppose I expected to much. "Thats great". I say. You should ask her out. " I hate say this but, maybe it will make him like me. "Nah. She has a huge crush on Marco." "He looks ugly. I don't know why she would like someone like that. By this time, the bus had pulled up to JHHS. We get off the bus and Garret walks me to my locker. As we get farther down the hallway, I realize that this place looks nothing like my old school. We get to my locker. It has a combination lock. My old school had passcode lockers. All you had to do was type in the passcode and it opened. It turns out, I can actually open my locker! It was surprisingly easy. Garret's locker is a group of lockers down from mine.
I get pencil and notebook and head to room 119. All of mine and Garret's classes are on the same floor. He walks me to my class and he goes to his. I walk in and see a wild group of kids. Everyone is running around and laughing. The teacher stands up on her desk and yells,"BE QUIET!". Everyone is afraid to argue. I sit my stuff down on a desk and walk back to the teacher. "Hi, I'm Madison Elliot. The new student." "Oh! Hi!" She pulls out a social studies book and hands it to me. "You'll need this every day" "Thanks.", I say and walk back to my seat.
The rest of the day drags on. Especially math class. At least I didn't get any homework! I walk to my locker to put my books down. That was actually successful! I get lost on the way to lunch. "My school map says left bu---"" "Lost?" Garret asks me. "How'd you know?" "Once again, I'm just that good". We keep laughing as he leads me to lunch.
It wasn't a long walk to the cafeteria. It was packed. Garret led Madison to a table full of girls. "See you later!" He walked away and sat down with his friends. Seriously? She thought. She decides to make the best of the situation. "Hi, I'm Madison." She says to the Tomboy next her. "Hey. I'm Mackenzie. This is Bayleigh." "Sup" Bayleigh says. The girls are called up to get their food. Its pizza and corn. "You're lucky. Mack says. "Our food is usually a lot like dog food after pizza day." The girls go back to their seats and start eating. They talk about New York, Boys and the snobby girls.
During Inter-murals, the girls gossip and talk about everything. The bell rings and everyone goes to class. My schedule says my next class is Band. I dropped my saxophone off in the band room this morning. Band was really fun for Madison. She made some new friends. The bell rings to go to the last class of the day. The teacher had us write in journals and read. It was an interesting class.
In the bus room, Madison sits down next to Garret. They call bus 16 and quickly get on it. Garret hasn't spoken to Madison since lunch. "Are you ok?" I ask. "Yea. I am just questioning my feelings for Gianna. "Why"? " I think I have feelings for someone else.
