Neither of the boys realized how long they had stayed up. Several mugs littered the table top, along with a few empty bags, which previously held stale chips.
"Hide, this game is literally infinite. How did you manage to get this far? We're like 75% done with the game!" Kaneki exclaimed.
"I've watched a lot of walkthroughs and cheats, someone beat the whole game in 2 hours!" Hide said.
"Ok, nice try. That's literally impossible."
"No! They really did. They used a whole lot of cheats to get through it, they didn't have to go into Bleak Falls Barrow."
"Then why did we go in there!? We died like 10 times."
"You insisted on playing through the whole Bleak Falls Barrow part, so YOU died like 10 times, not me." Hide smirked slightly and let out a soft chuckle.
"I guess you're right."
At that moment, Kaneki was not worried about anything. He forgot every problem in his life. He was so happy in that one moment, nothing else mattered. But as nothing last forever, that moment was interrupted by a loud, solid knock on the front door to the apartment. The knock startled both boys, and caused Hide to walk their player off a cliff.
"Hide!" Kaneki yelled.
"Don't worry! Khajiits are cats, and cats always land on their feet." He said with confidence.
Seconds later, their character hit the ground hard, and assumed a rag doll position, and tumbled down the mountain. Hide seemed surprised.
"Huh, I though we would live."
"Well, we didn't dip shit." Kaneki said.
"Hey!"
Kaneki chuckled and walked over to the door to answer it. Who could be at their door at this hour? Shit. Were they being loud? He hoped it wasn't a neighbor coming to complain about them.
He shyly opened the door to reveal Touka once again slouched over with her blank expression.
"Wake up. Its 8."
"What!? Its 8 already?!" He yelled.
"Yeah, why do you seem so surprised?"
"I stayed up with Hide and we played Skyrim, I didn't realize how long we stayed up."
"Oh, ok. Well, anyways, wake up you lazy bum," and with that, she left, headed back downstairs to the cafe.
Kaneki yelled back down the hall in her direction,"Ive already been up for 6 hours!" He slammed the door shut on his way back in.
"Hide!" Kaneki yelled.
"What?"
"Did you know that it's 8 already!?"
Hide kept silent.
"Hide...."
"Maybe I did,maybe I didn't" He let out a quiet chuckle.
"Well that's besides the point. Don't you have school today?"
"No, it's Saturday."
"Oh, that's right. Now I feel stupid."
Hide paused the game and saved quickly before shutting down the console.
"I better get going. I have to go help some friends out with some service hours, and we have to meet at 8:30, so I can't be late. Text me later!" Hide yelled while simultaneously running down the hall.
Kaneki laughed at his friend's cheery attitude. He thought it was kind of cute.
Kaneki prepared himself another cup of coffee, along with some food. He had no plans today, unlike Hide, so he decided to go to the bookstore and read for the day, just to calm his thoughts.
After eating, he dressed in another sweater and left his small apartment, locking the door on the way out. On the way through the cafe, he was greeted by greetings and smiles. Upon leaving, he saw the snow covering the overhang to the cafe.
"Shit." he mumbled. At the same time, Hinami ran out to him.
"Oni~Chan! Your forgot to bring an jacket." She smiled brightly and handed him his thick winter jacket, warming Kanki's heart.
"Thank You Hinami~Chan." Kaneki forced a small smile. Hinami bowed and ran back inside to escape the cold air.
Kaneki put on his jacket and walked down the ice covered path.
-Time Skip-
When he finally reached the library, he entered, shaking the snow out of his white hair. The librarian didn't notice his presence, and continued reading her old, aged book. Kaneki shrugged it off, knowing she really didn't need to say hello or acknowledge him. He walked through the aisles, looking for a favorable book to read. After what seemed like ages of searching for a good book, he found a book he had read a few years ago, and had wanted to reread ever since.
He grabbed the book off the towering shelf and sat down at a nearby table. He opened the book to the first page and began to read.
-Time Skip again because I'm fucking lazy-
Kaneki managed to complete the entire book in a matter of hour, which he felt very proud of. He took time to find the exact place where the book had originally been. When he successfully found its origin, he put it back and put his coat back on. Upon walking outside, he realized that the librarian was no longer at her desk, and was no where in sight. He mostly ignored it and walked outside.
He was immediately met by a piercing cold wind. It sent a small shiver down his spine. This was quickly followed by a familiar tune which he recognized as his ringtone he set for Hide.
He pulled his phone out and answered his call.
"Kaneki! You finally answered!"
"Finally? What do you mean Hide?"
"I've been calling and texting you for the last hour? Did you die?"
"No I didn't die, I was at the library and my phone was on silent" Kaneki explained.
"Boring! Are you doing anything tomorrow? It's Sunday so I don't have school and you don't to work tomorrow do you?"
"No I don't."
"Great! Do you want to hang out! We could finish Skyrim!"
"Hmmm. I guess so. Come over at 12 ok?"
"Ok! Bye Neki!"
"Bye"
Hide ended the call before Kaneki could take the phone away from his ear. He smiled and walked back to the cafe.
-Another Time Skip brought to you by fucking lazy me-
When Kaneki finally arrived back at his cozy apartment he took off his eyepatch and threw it somewhere, but he didn't pay any attention to where it landed. He feel back on the couch, not bothering to eat anything, he couldn't really care at the moment. He was so tired but yet he didn't want to sleep. He turned his head slightly and saw the Skyrim disk laying atop the PS3. He smiled.
"I wonder if I can beat the game tonight."He mumbled to himself and slightly smirked. Skyrim was now his top priority.
I wasn't exactly sure how to end it so I ended it how my nights go. Also, how did I get 15 more reads since the last chapter?!? I uploaded the last one today! Thank you guys so much!
