District Five Male - Matthew Vindur

District Five

Appearance: Matthew is small. He has to be. Ever since District Three figured out that lighter things spun faster, the turbines slowly became smaller, which forced the younger workers to climb them. His brown hair, although typically windblown from working at the top of the turbines, has been forced down with plenty of gel. Matthew does constantly mess it up though, mostly because his bangs get into his eyes. His hazel eyes are the only thing that distinguishes him from the other boys in his District. Still, hazel is fairly similar to the dull brown most of the boys sport. Matthew, although Caucasian, is very tan from being in the sun almost the entire day. Some would say that Matthew is birdlike in stature. He is short and skinny, but every ounce on his body is muscle. He doesn't eat very much, and climbing is very good exercise. Overall, Matthew is about what you would expect from a thirteen-year old from his part of the District.

Personality: Matthew is very shy. It helps where he works. The less he socializes, the more he works. Despite that, Matthew is quite lonely. He doesn't have friends but he is always surrounded by people. He doesn't have anyone to talk or relate to. So, even when he has someone to talk to, he is somewhat awkward. He is completely honest, and doesn't quite understand that sometimes you need to lie or not quite tell the whole truth. That and, although he tries to tell jokes, they are always awful and sometimes don't make any sense at all. But Matthew cracks himself up. Matthew is a nice kid, he doesn't want to hurt anyone but he will do whatever it takes to get home.

Strengths:  

1. Matthew is stronger than he looks. People will underestimate him, and although he won't be able to overpower them, he might be able to trick them.

2. Matthew is smart from working in a District where technology is key. He can figure out patterns quickly.

3. Matthew will stay out of the way of other tributes. 

Weapon of choice/experience: He has no experience fighting, but he has learned to use a knife to make minor adjustments to the turbines. Turbines are a lot different than people though...

Token: Matthew's little brother (Jarrod) gave Matthew his favorite teddy bear. That way if Matthew gets sad in the arena, he can hug it and think of Jarrod. But he can't get blood on it. Blood is bad and Baxter the Bear is scared of blood.
