An old man sat crosslegged in midair, a small yellow bird flitting around the log entangled in his grey hair. He had his eyes shut as he meditated. His green-tinged skin glowed with a faint green.
A little girl curled up on the green hill in front of the man's, sobbing loudly. The old man opened his eyes, hearing her cries. He stopped floating, the wooden logs he wore on his feet clanking loudly as they hit the ground. The bird landed on the log in his hair. The man walked to the doorway, stroking his beard. He walked over to her. "My dear, are you all right?"
She sniffled and looked up at him. "Wh... Are you..." She stood up. "My daddy told me to find the Green Sage. Are you the Green Sage?"
The man nodded. "I am."
"I guessed because you're green." She giggled, but then her smile faded. "My daddy... he... we were moving here, and... someone attacked him. They were wearing a hood so I couldn't tell who it was but they took daddy and he told me to run and he threw some paper at me and I read it and it told me to come see you so I did and now I don't know where daddy is!" She sobbed loudly. "And my arm hurts..."
The Green Sage knelt down beside her. "Here, let me see your arm." He noticed a massive cut down the entire length of the inside of her arm. It was deep and gushing blood all over her shirt sleeve. "Oh, my. One moment..." He waved his hands over her arm. Green sparks flew, curling around the gash and entering it. The girl stared, dumbfounded, as the flesh and skin knitted itself back together in seconds. The blood on her shirt faded, turning green and then flashing out of the fabric.
"Thank you," the girl said, moving her elbow. It didn't hurt.
"Would you like to stay with me?" the Green Sage asked. "Just until we find your daddy."
"He... he wasn't really my daddy," the girl stuttered. "I don't know where my real daddy is. He found me one day and he decided to take care of me."
"Well that's what I'm going to do as well," The Green Sage promised.
"So you're my daddy now?" The girl's face lit up and she stood. "Cool! Now I can tell everyone my daddy has magical powers!"
The Green Sage chuckled. "What's your name?"
"I'm Keira. That's Keira with an E-I, not an I-E." She grinned again.
"That's a nice name. Did your daddy call you that?"
"Yeah. I never knew my real dad."
"Well, Miss Keira, I'd like to introduce you to someone. Wait here, I'll go get him."
Keira nodded and sat down again, crossing her legs. The Green Sage began to make his way down to the village of Sandover, which his hut overlooked.
