chapter 7

 Josue is back in the apartment of team 1 in his normal outfit without his cloak on, but he's wearing the black crown walking with a plate of fish sticks in his hands. He sits down on the couch and grabs the remote. "what's on T.V?" Josue begins to flip through channels until he lands on international news. "Well what do we have here?"Josue looks at the screen when he sees the topic scroll on the screen saying LUCAS WELLS INTERVIEW. A male news anchor on the screen is shown waiting patiently, shuffling talk cards, as Lucas finishes checking his phone. "hello Mr. wells." Lucas smiles warmly at the man, causing him to drop his cards. "hello." Lucas looks calm and interested as the man begins to shuffle through his talk cards before giving up. "may we talk of your recent endeavors, Mr. Wells?" The man tries to look calm as Lucas gives it some thought, his calm manner making the man uneasy. "straight to the point i like that, go ahead." The man swallows loudly at Lucas's calm demeanor. "very well why are you now filing this case against the city?" Lucas looks at him with a smirk. "This city, and it's benefactor, stole something that belonged to my family and I want it back." As Lucas's phone begins to vibrate in his pocket, he smirk gets even bigger before he continues. "But the timing was for a specific group of people take notice." The man looks confused and is about to ask when Lucas continues. "you can't understand this but this group, is quite important to my boss and i have to see what they can do." The man still doesn't understand as Lucas shakes his head with a cynical smile. "You see the main part of this legal action is to get noticed by these people," The man begins to get angry, as Lucas just continues smirking as he looks at the now angered man, "but don't worry if you don't understand, you just had to help and you have, so thank you." Lucas looks at the watch on his cane and stops time for everyone except him and Josue. Lucas then looks directly at the camera. "well black king looks like it's just you and me," Lucas coughs up less blood than he did earlier, "and don't bother trying to teleport, my boss had my layer the entire town in dimensional seeds." Josue begins to get pissed, before  he realizes that Lucas knows the pigeons came after him earlier. "I actually don't know why they attacked you earlier i laced the city only an hour ago," Josue suddenly begins to look around as Lucas chuckles, "You won't be able to find the camera it's too small..." Josue's eyes turn negative, making his iris's turn square and full purple, before he blasts a small camera annoying Lucas. "Do you have any idea how much that cost, you know what never mind i'll just pay you back by using my brand new bomb to blow you up." Josue shrugs and starts drinking some water. "That's fine it won't kill me anyways, probably won't even hurt me." Lucas smirks that the audio still works on the camera. "Oh i know that's why i put the bomb in an old science lab near the same section of the city where your new apartment is located." Josue swallows the water in shock. "How did you even know that, i don't even know where it is." Lucas points towards his phone. "Jill and Claire's boss let me know." Josue sighs and is about to continue talking when time returns to normal and Lucas is gone. Josue pulls out his phone when he get a message showing him the coordinates of the building. Josue just shrugs and sends a message to his team telling them to meet him there. They arrive at the abandoned site thirty minutes later and Josue walks into the building followed by the rest of his team. "I'm so happy it's been awhile since we had to fight." Jill starts to whistle happily tugging on her suspenders while skipping alongside her team. A pink t-shirt and black skirt suspenders grace her presence along with black tennis shoes. "well as long a Claire doesn't get hurt right away you will actually have a good time." Claire glares at Malcolm, before looking around the broken building's lobby. "if what Josue said is true we may only have tonight to stop this, so don't worry i'll be ready for anything." After that they all look towards Josue who's looking for an entrance to the basement. "listen guys I can't tell you what to expect in there." Josue looks at his teammates after finding the entrance. He then flips his coin from earlier and opens the door. Malcolm and the others look expectantly at Josue. "What?" Claire answers the question with a sigh. "isn't this the part you give us a speech." Josue thinks it over and then stands up straight. "okay then, Jill make sure your flashlight is charged." Jill fixes her suspenders, pulls out a small flashlight and checks it. "Malcolm, i have nothing to tell you cause I'm pretty sure you'll be fine," Josue then turns to Claire, " and Claire try not to get knocked out so fast." Claire hits him in the head with the butt of a rifle. "Great now that that's been taken care off, he has control over time so be extremely careful." They nod and all walk into the basement which is just one massive hallway. Lucas is shown standing on the walkway of a massive room waiting for his guests to arrive. "Hey so Lucas can i ask a favor?" Lucas looks at door then frowns after hearing a sound. "well that depends can you tell me before they get here." Lucas hears them start running to door. "If you fight Malcolm can you let him live?" Lucas stops time right as Josue and his team jump through the door. "Come again?" Nervous scratching is heard on his ear piece. "Well we know each other rather well and i would like to see him again." Lucas shakes his head. "I'm sorry i can't promise anything." Tom sighs on the other end of the ear piece. "I didn't want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice." Lucas hears a text being sent from tom before feeling his phone vibrate. DON'T KILL MALCOLM-GIRLFRIEND. "You went to my girlfriend!?" Lucas slowly begins to start releasing his hold on time. "Yeah see we play the same mmo and i get a bunch of rare stuff just for situations like these." Lucas pulls out a pocket watch then looks at his intruders. "Fine tom, he lives but i won't be able to talk anymore." Lucas puts one hand on his cane, a bronze and yellow tinted glass creation with a clock on top of it, then looks directly at the intruders. "Let's do this." Josue and his team land on a catwalk that is surprising large as Lucas pulls out a pocket watch. "So i just realized you guys are here a bit early." Lucas puts away his pocket watch and looks at them. "We defeated the mole people early." Lucas raises an eyebrow at Jill but then he shakes his head. "At any rate i need to hold you here for another nine minutes, so think fast!" Lucas's hand and cane glow dark yellow, gears and clocks are floating around the yellow glow as they always do and then there's a light coating of white over the dark yellow. Lucas shoots a beam of energy at Josue that hits Josue dead center. The team looks at Josue with wide eyes as he flies backwards in slow motion. "what did you.." Claire turns back to where Lucas was only to hear Lucas leaning on the rail right next to her. "You know, normal stuff like that wouldn't work on him because the powers of the black king would stop it, but my boss knows how to breach its defenses just fine." Lucas's right arm then glows dark yellow and he instantly punches Claire in the stomach. She slumps on the arm as she spits up blood. "Claire!!!" Jill bends light into beams from multiple directions aiming at Lucas from all sides. "5 minutes to go?" Lucas easily dodges the lasers then jumps in the air, glows dark yellow and instantly grabs Jill's neck and slams her on the floor of the catwalk but then freezes the catwalk in time so it doesn't break or shatter. "I can't tell who's weaker you or your sister?" Lucas's left arm glows yellow in preparation to hit Jill, but then Lucas gets hit  by an unknown force. Lucas gets knocked back, hits the railing still frozen in time, and grabs his side in pain while one eye is closed. Malcolm floats over to him as Lucas is still looking down in pain. "I personally think Claire is weaker." Lucas chuckles at Malcolm's answer. "3 minutes". Lucas then looks up at Malcolm ,who's floating on the catwalk, and tries to lunge at him but then gets hit over the railing and slammed to the floor leaving an indent of his body in the ground. "I can read your mind you know, like right now you seem to be cursing one of your partners." Lucas then launches himself in the air at Malcolm, but gets grabbed and slammed into a wall by Malcolm's telekinetic powers effortlessly as Malcolm lands on the catwalk. "1 more minute to go, but hold on let's try this again." Lucas glows yellow, jumps off the wall then disappears in front of Malcolm, reappearing behind him. "finally!!!!" Lucas's cane glows yellow then hits Malcolm in the leg, head, side, and chest instantly. Malcolm falls over and Lucas then turns around just in time to see Josue kick him in the face. Lucas gets knocked back slightly by punch, since Josue was still moving in slow motion. "Your little trick won't work again." Lucas smirks and points behind them. "It doesn't have to anymore." Josue looks at the catwalk only to see Jill and Malcolm are gone. "Where are they?" Lucas just shrugs and charges Josue. "Who cares they all sucked anyways, especially Claire." Lucas's leg glows yellow and begins to match Josue in kicks blocking every hit. "I mean come on one punch to the gut and she's out." Josue manages to kick Lucas to the edge of the catwalk and Lucas is about to charge him again, when Claire stabs him from behind with a serrated blade. "who's the weakest now!?" Claire smiles as she throws his body off the edge and jumps back on using his weight to propel herself upward. "Alright Josue let's start looking for Jill and Malcolm." Josue's jaw is wide open as he looks behind Claire. "what?" Claire turns around once she hears the sound of clapping.
