Balloons

So here it is. hope you enjoy.

In the park where many memories where made is still there but not as beautiful as before. The old swing set stood there, rusted because of time.

Nadine stood in front of the swing tracing it with her fingers. It's rusted like our friendship. She thought.

When James he still kept contact with Nadine, but the distance and the time difference made it difficult, plus they're also busy with their studies. Now its 10 years since James left.

Nadine sat down at the swing. She closed her eyes and started thinking about the past.

"James, push me harder!" an eleven year old Nadine shouted while swinging. "I want to go higher." She added. James just nodded and pushed her harder.

Nadine was laughing while she swings, she never reached this high before and she loves it. She just wished that James could also swing with her but the other swing was broken. She stopped her swinging and said to James, "You should swing too." Nadine was about to stand up but James stopped her. "I have a better idea." He replied while putting his feet on the swing one after the other. "This way we could both swing together." He said with a grin.

Nadine chuckled at that memory. She missed those times, when they were so young and carefree.

Nadine went to the tree, the tree where they met. While she was getting near the tree she saw a man touching the tree before leaving. Sure he was a complete stranger but somehow that man seems familiar to her. James? No it can't be. He hasn't been back for ten years so why would he go back now, Nadine thought. Even if it was him what would I do, confess my feelings? He probably likes or maybe loves someone else. He would never love me back after all we are just friends.

Just friends

He has someone else

You're only his best friend

Just a best friend

Nadine stared at the tree. As she recalled the day they met she can't help but think if another pair of kids met because of a balloon that got stuck in a tree. Did they fall in love with each other or did their feelings didn't develop. Did they confess to each other or did they just hide their feelings. Are they still close or did their friendship fall apart.

She smiled. Even though she didn't tell her feelings to James she was still happy. At least she got to meet him and got close to him. James will always have the biggest impact in her life. She can't imagine her life without him. She simply can't after all they have been inseparable since they were kids.

A little girl bumped into Nadine. Nadine looked and saw the little girl chasing a red balloon. Just like back then.

But instead of getting stuck on the tree the balloon went straight towards the road the little girl following after it. Nadine watched the girl run towards the road when she saw a fast car heading her way.

Nadine's mind stopped. She quickly ran towards the girl and pushed her away from the road. But before she could get herself to safety the car hit her.
