Mako Secrets - The last merman

A baby? You gotta be kidding me.

"Rikki Chadwick" a nice female voice hollered from the hallway.

White walls covered the room as the awfully disturbing scent of hospital lingered in the air. People were focusing into the trash magazines they had found begging for a read with their provoking front lines. Nobody seemed to notice a pale slightly shaking figurine shifting restlessly on the bench.

A blond haired girl was squeezing her line number between her slightly blueish fingers tight enough to lose the warmth from her fingertips. Even though she wouldn't have even needed one in the first place, since she had booked the appointment already before hand.

However now she was completely zoned out into the thought or perhaps her blood pressure had lowered enough for her to not even be able to hear anything. Either way. She was frozen in time, breathing heavily as if answering to the call would be a matter of life and death.

"Rikki Chadwick" Woman's voice got frustrated. Those reckless teenagers. They just knock themselves up and then ignore the appointments they book and treat her like she's the grim reaper when she's just doing her job. As if it was her fault they haven't been able to prevent unwanted pregnancies and now needed to get rid of the fetus.

Rikki stood up. She was dressed in loose trunks and a baggy hoodie. Not that anything in her body had physically visibly changed, but she just felt like hiding her body entirely. Not even sure why exactly. With her sweating hands she dusted off the fabric of her shirt holding back vomit trying to move her frozen legs. "I'm not even sure.. And yet I'm shaking. What's wrong with me?" She thought nervously while she started to slowly walk towards the door where the woman dressed in a white coat hair tied up looked down at her with a judgemental or perhaps slightly pitiful gaze.

At least that's what she thinks before she raise her gaze and see smiling lady welcoming her to the room.

Monitor and different doctor equipments make her feel dizzy.

"Oh god! What if she put something liquid on me and I turn into mermaid on the bed! That would be the most horrible situation happen here. My worst nightmare." Rikki sight loudly and fall on her knees.

"Are you okay miss Chadwick?" Doctor ask worried.

"Uhh. Yes. I just.. Can I just piss to the stick? We don't need to take ultra sound?" She say with her shacking voice.

"I thought you already did that. This ultrasound is to make sure how far are you." Doctor explain calmly and draw rubber glowes on.

"Don't worry. It wont hurt a bit. I just put this salva on your belly and.."

"No! No salva!" Rikki shout suddenly.

Doctor look at her confused eyes wide open. "Ohkay.. And why is that?" She then ask a little amused.

"Uhm.. I'm allergic. To that ultrasound salva." Rikki try to explain nervously.

"Well.. Okay. We don't need to use it. It just help us to find the baby better, but if you feel it's not good idea I think we'll survive without" she then say smirking and put the salva away to the table nearby. "Kids these day's. Allergic.." She think frustrated.

Rikki climb up to the bed. And soon doctor raise up her shirt so she can get a good wiev of her belly.

"You know I can see the womb with my bare eye. Congratulations." She say smiling while she let the weird ornament wonder on Rikkis stomach.

"There's nothing to congratulate. I only wanna know how far it is so I can do abortion. No one will know. Not Zane not girls. No one." She think nervously scratsching the papersheet under her.

"See! There it is. Your beautiful little fish baby." Doctor say smirking.

"What!?" Rikki jump up suddenly shoked and gaze at the monitor terrified.

"Calm down." Doctor say confused.

"Where were you while your biology class? Every little fetus looks like a fish at first. " she continue confused about Rikki's shocked reaction.

Rikki lay down releived. What where she thinking. That the baby would turn into mermaid inside of her womb? Haha. That would be ridiculous. Wouldn't it?

"But wait a minute?" Doctor then said.
"This can't be right."

"What is it? Something wrong?"  Rikki then asked confused and gaze at the monitor. A little baby head turn from side to side and her heart melt immediately.

"I'm gonna kill that?? But it's a living being. Inside me." She think nervously.

Doctor leave the monitor to check her papers and mumble herself confused.

Rikki stare the monitor so fashinated that she don't realize that the baby does actually look like a fish. It's head is big and eyes still closed, but still clear and alive, but te bottom isn't that big. It's more like a human frog with scales. It looks actually pretty odd mutantion.

"Miss Chadwick." Doctor interrupt her suddenly.

"I need to take more tests. You're baby is past 12weeks which means it should be looking like a little human by now. But it looks like it has some kind of mutantion going on. It's not moving from the fish part completely normally."

Rikki turn her gaze at the doctor. She had no idea this was gonna be what she find. What is the thing inside her? It's not a mermaid, but definitely not a human either.

"No! Thank you for your time." Rikki say quikly.

Doctor stand confused watching after Rikki that run away from the room grabbing the pictures from the monitor with force before slamming the door behind her.

She run and run until she come to the beach and jump into the water.
