Chapter 1

Look. I never wanted to be hunted by monsters. No one ever does. But with my parents being who they are, I'm surprised I haven't been attacked more. If you recognize yourself in this stop reading this immediately. Live the lie your parent or guardian has told you. You might be like my parents. And it's only so much time before they realize it too. If you read this as fantasy, I envy you. Enjoy your life. If you're like me, then I hope we meet one day. If not... I'm sorry you are dead. Your family has my condolences. I hope you achieved Elysium. If you don't listen to me... Don't say I didn't warn you.

All my life I have lived in one place, and went to one school, which is unusual in my family seeing that my parents moved schools like every year, and I have ADHD and Dyslexia. Also, it's not easy leading a double life. Now listen, it's not a spy double life, it's more of a... Hero type of double life. I'll explain in a minute. You know what? I'll just tell you my story instead.

The last day of sixth grade finally came. This year I hadn't flooded the school, which is a new thing for me. I go to a like charter school in California, near Beverly Hills.

I was wandering down the hallway to my locker when Leroy and his posse waltzed up to me. I opened my locker and grabbed my stuff. Carson, Leroy's main henchman, slammed my locker door. Leroy tripped me as I was backing up and my books flew all over the floor, Leroy and his posse standing above me.

"Wh- wh- what do you want Leroy?" I stammered. Leroy was the tallest, most athletic, and most popular guy in sixth grade. He always got what he wanted.

"I want to leave this year early. And you're going to make that happen." He said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. I gulped. I knew he suspected about my abilities but I never thought he would figure them out. Leroy motioned to Carson and I was shoved up against the lockers. Leroy pulled his arm back, winding up, and he punched me in the gut. He punched my nose.

"At least I'm not bruising a pretty face." He commented as he punched my face again.

I have bested monsters worse than him. I said to myself. Don't lose your temper. That's what he wants. I fought my emotions for control. But my emotions won. I was tired of being pushed around by Leroy and Carson. I was fed up with them.

"Why won't you guys LEAVE ME ALONE?!?" I yelled, and Carson let go. Leroy turned, and ran, his posse following quickly in suite.

That's when the toilets exploded.

"Oh Styx." I muttered as I quickly pulled my things out of my locker, and ran. I pulled my Yankees cap out of my back pocket and put it on. When I got to the main doors I turned and put my hands out in front of me as I tried to control the water. It worked and it came together in a river like form as it flowed out the doors and into the nearby lake. I quickly joined the rest of the school. Luckily no one saw me because of my hat. My hat was given to me by my mom. It makes the wearer invisible. Thanks mom. I thought as I whipped it off. I quickly found my best friend Silenus Underwood.

"Silena, thank the gods!"

"Hey Pan." I said calling him by his middle name. He didn't exactly like his first name so he went by his middle name; Pan.

"Did you... You know..."

"Yeah. That was me."

"Thank the gods you're ok!"

"It was just the same thing that happens every year. No biggie."

"I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't shown up. Your parents would kill me!"

"No they wouldn't. Plus all that would happen is you would become a plant."

"True..."

"Come on Pan." I said dragging him to where my mom was coming to pick us up. I saw my mom pull up in her Seafoam Green slug-bug. She waved to Pan and I. I pulled Pan along as we walked up to the car. I let Pan go, and he got into the back. I jumped into the passenger seat. My gave me a look of understanding. I figured she knew about the toilets.

"So Mrs. Jackson," Pan said, "what are you guys doing this summer?"

"Well Silenus, we are going stay Camp Jupiter for a bit and then we are going to visit your parents."

"That's cool! But please call me Pan."

"Whatever you say." She replied and Pan groaned, knowing that my mom would just keep calling him Silenus. We entered the secret tunnel to New Rome. When we got to our house, Pan rushed upstairs to change while I started on my homework. My parents felt that it was important to have me in a normal school unlike the other kids in New Rome. Pan came downstairs in a Camp Jupiter tee shirt, his furry goat legs showing. Oh, did I mention that Pan is a faun? Just then my dad came in.

"Dad!" I flung myself into his open arms. He hugged me.

"Anything happen today?"

"Some kids were bullying me and I accidentally flooded the school again." I rushed.

"Again?" Dad just looked at me before pulling me into another hug. When he let go he ruffled my blonde shoulder length hair before going to mom and kissing her.

"Ewwww." Pan and I said in chorus. Dad just smirked.

"How you doing Pan?" He asked.

"I'm doing fine Mr. Jackson."

"That's good."

"Can I go out for a walk, outside of Camp?" My parents looked at each other, seeming to have a conversation. My mom finally put her hands up in defeat.

"Yes Silena, you can." Dad said, and I was out the door before you could say 'Riptide'.

I ran out of New Rome, and into the fresh air of Beverly Hills when I heard a roar.
