James laid back against a canister of eco, and decided to tell his story to his three pupils, the story of this city.
It all began when I was young, I can guess I was 14 at the time. Like Pyra, I didn't have a family, I grew up in a small village that used to be around here, but when I was 14, I decided that I was strong enough, and prepared to live on my own in the wilderness, I live out there for 3 years, until one day, a certain event changed everything.
It was fall, and the area I lived in was were this city is now, in fact this tower is built were my home was. I had traps set up throughout the woods, so I could trap any deer, or any wild gressin. The ground was covered in leaves, so none of the animals could see the traps, and would be caught. But this caused a serious problem for me, or actually I guess you could say it was a blessing.
I had been waiting in my house when the alarm went off, which meant something had been caught, and went outside to see what was caught, i had to walk half a mile out to see what was caught. When I found it, I immediately ran to the trap, it was a gressin, and it was rare that i ever caught one. As soon as I got close I knew there was something wrong, because the gressin had fallen into a trap, gressin have three legs, and are built almost like a bear, though not as deadly. I went to examine it.
After looking at it carefully i noticed an arrow wedged between it's shoulder blades, which meant that someone was near, and I didn't take that long getting here because I ran, so they still had to be in my vicinity, and thats when another trap had been sprung, and I heard a scream, and absolutely nothing could compare to it.
I immediately ran west,I had worked these traps for years, so I knew exactly where each one was. When i finally arrived at the scene, I knew what had been caught, it was a wood nymph.
I approached it and I knew how much pain she was in, it took me a year to memorize where all the traps were, but half of that year I was walking with a splint on my leg, and it was hard dragging anything I caught back to the cabin.
But seeing something that most people never see in there lifetime, I imagined that the pain would be worse. I carefully opened the claw trap from around her leg, and let her free. She just stared at me blankly, like she was confused. "You sot that gressin didn't you?" She looked away from me, which told me the answer was yes. " Why? you're a wood nymph, you aren't supposed to hunt things. You're supposed to protect nature." She turned her head, and she finally decided to speak, "I have no choice, there is a water nymph, and she has done something that has never been done before. She bears a human child, AND SHE MUST eat in order to supply nutrients for the child, and it is close to it's birth."
It was that moment something very ironic happened, I heard another scream, and it was many times worse than the wood nymphs.
We arrived on the scene and we were able to deliver the child, but the water nymph died giving birth. The wood nymph turned to me, "You must take this child, it is the only one of it's kind, a human and nymph halfbreed." She handed the child too me, I was unsure weather or not I could handle this, but everything had happened so quickly, so I took the the baby. The wood nymph looked around studying the area, "Do you know what happens when a nymph moves on from our world? Especially a water nymph? The area is effected dramatically. This entire place will be drowned in eco, which is part of a nymph's life force. You must leave immediately" As soon as she said it, it happened. The earth around us bursted into colors of all sorts, there was eco flowing from everywhere. From the trees, the river, the ground, and even the sky.
I turned and looked at the nymph, and found that she was smiling, and I just stared at her, i wanted to ask what she was smiling about, but I was completely hypnotized by her smile. It was one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen, it wasn't a sly or cunning smile, but it seemed to be pure happiness. "You are one lucky man. This place you call home, it really is important to you isn't it. It's so full of love, and joy, but also sadness and despair, the place is flowing with emotions." I was confused, I mean I was trying to take it all in, but it was happening so fast. "What I mean is that you are a very rare kind of person. You have so much heart, that you have given the land itself, emotions. And with all this eco, it will build you something beautiful instead of becoming just a flooded area."
The eco was turned into this city, thats why there is an abundance of it, it's what the city is made of. The nymph left soon after this event, she said she had to be judged by her kind for breaking one of the most sacred laws of their kind, killing animals. But I cannot tell you yet what happened to the child.
