A Lot To Talk About Here

Today in class my fellow classmates and I hade a discussion about tge incident where a mother left her six kids (1yr old being the youngest and 8yr old being the oldest) at the house by themselves while she went out clubbing. The 8yr old ended up killing the 1yr old beecause she wouldn't stop crying and he didn't know what to do. The 8yr old was charged as an adult while the mother has been charged with nothing.

Now everyone in my class thinks multiple things. Here's a couple:
The mother should be charged, the child should get help instead of being punished, the child shouldn't be tried as an adult.

I agree with all of these things.

Further down the line we started talking about race and how it's a contribution in the eyes of authority.
We predicted that if the child was a young white boy he more or likely would have been stamped with the "mental illness" excuse.

We also talked about how race is looked at as a threat. Muslims came up and how people think their all terrorist. My whole class thought it was sad how people are sepperated and punished by the color of their skin or what they believe in. We also thought it was sad how were called the united states but not united. We have people who look up to people like donald trump when people like him are breaking us down.

So what is your opinion about the boy being charged as adult?

What do you think should happen to the mother?

What are your feelings on being treated differently based on your skin color or your religion?

Let me know what yoy think in the comments. Also sorry for typos and rambling.
