Xander~

I yawned and stretched like a cat as I felt every joint in my body pop, and then relax. I yawned again as I looked up at my ceiling in my now lit room. I glanced over at the clock and saw that I still had thirty minutes before I needed to get up and get ready to go and get my son from daycare.

Most people that worked third shift, would keep their child home with them, even while they slept, but it was hard for me to do. I had to have a good sleep, or I would be a danger to all of my patients. I pick my son up from daycare around one in the afternoon, and don't take him to my moms until about 6:30. That left me five hours to spend with him. It wasn't much, but with working 7pm to 7am, it was hard. When I would pick my son up from my moms, we would come home and he would sleep in my bed with me. I felt the need to always have him close to me, even if we were both sleeping. at about 9, I would get up and get him dressed, take him to daycare, and then come home and sleep until time to pick him up.

It was beyond hard being a single father, but I was making it work. It hurt to have my son ask me to quit my job to spend more time with him, but I had to make money so I could provide for him.

I shook my head slightly to expel those thoughts as I got out of bed. I made my way to my shower and scrubbed my entire body clean. I had a shift tonight, and then I was off for three days. I was going to spend that time to spoil my little angel. Draken was my life. I was beyond excited when the doctors gave me the news that I was pregnant with my little boy. He was everything I could ever want.

I slapped the handle to the off side and the waterfall stopped immediately. I sighed and dried off my body then got dressed in some Dark skinny jeans and a regular grey t-shirt. I looked in the mirror at my now dark green eyes. I brushed through my wet brown hair and left it hanging loose to my shoulders. I glanced at the clock.

"Shit." I muttered. I had to leave right now or I would be late picking him up. I ran down to my car and jumped in speeding off to his daycare. I relaxed only when the bright yellow building came into view.

"Hello Mr. Kotori." My son's teacher smiled warmly at me. I smiled back.

"Hello Mrs. Hansen. I'm sorry I'm late." She chuckled and waved a dismissive hand at me.

"No worries. Draken is a joy to have. We know you work a late shift, so we don't mind staying a couple minutes late until you get here." She smiled and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Da!" I heard a sudden squeal. I grinned and turned around. I leaned down just as my boy ran and jumped into my arms. I kissed his forehead.

"Hello Draken. Have you been a good boy for Mrs. Hansen." He nodded and grinned.

"I have, daddy. Can we have ice cream?" He looked at me with puppy dog eyes and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Of course we can. Say goodbye to your teacher and grab your coat then we will go." I set him down and he instantly gave a half hug to her legs then ran off to his cubby where his jacket was stuffed. I laughed. "Thank you again, Mrs. Hansen." I shook her hand and we walked out once Draken came back over to me.

I buckled him into his seat in the back seat and then made my way into the driver seat.

"Da where we goin?" He asked and I chuckled.

"To get ice cream, remember?" He squealed in delight and looked out the window. I smiled and turned my attention back to the road. Finally we pulled up to his favorite ice cream shoppe. I got out and helped him out of his seat. We crossed the parking lot, with his hand held tightly into mine. I locked the doors with my key fob and we made our way to a table.
