Xander~

I sighed quietly as I sat in the office at the base. I was finishing up the report on my last patient, but my mind kept drifting back to Sebastian. It had been two weeks since our first date. Since I told him I would give him a chance. He has came over every day since then, and Draken just loved the attention. Every time he came by, he would have some candy, or a little toy for my boy. I chuckled remembering how I had told Sebastian he was going to spoil Draken even more so. He had just laughed and shrugged his shoulders.

It was adorable the way he interacted with my son. Especially now that he knew Draken's birthday was in a few weeks. He was always asking Draken what he wanted to do for his birthday. Or what he wanted.

"Hey Xander. Wanna go get something to eat? I'm starved man." Zarek said peeking his head around the corner. I looked up at the short blonde haired man. Ever since Malachi decided to join the fire department, I have had Zarek here as my new partner. He was a decent guy, but something was a little off about him.

"Sure. Just let me send this in then I'll be ready." I turned back to the computer as he walked off, probably going to wait in the rig. For some reason he loved driving it. I didn't care.

I sent my form in then closed out my browser and logged out of my name. I patted my pockets and made sure I had my items before saying bye to the other guys and headed to the ambulance. I pulled on my seat belt and looked at him.

"So where do you want to eat?"

"I don't kno-"

The sirens started blaring and I sighed as our pager went off telling us that we were being called to the scene. I pulled out the laptop and started the next form while we listened to the dispatcher. There was a three car collision on the high way. I looked over just as I saw our two paramedic guys getting in to their rig signalling that they would be joining us on this call.

"Let's get to it." I chuckled as we pulled out of the base and flipped on our lights and sirens. It took us five minutes to get there but when we did, we knew the day was quickly turning for the worse. One car was on fire while the other two were completely mangled. We got out and rushed to the car that was on fire. I nodded towards Malachi who was helping put out the fire.

"Anyone still in there?!" I called over the loud noise. Malachi shook his head.

"No. Driver took off somewhere. Police are hunting him down. X there are kids in that car over there. Get paramedics to them quick. This is going to be a close call. You've got a pregnant woman in the one up there. The husband is trapped and her water broke. Go!" He said and I took off at a full sprint.

We got to the car and my heart dropped as I could see the blood pooling in her pants.

"I've got her, you go to the man. Guys!" I called to some of the fire department. "This man is pinned and we need him out. I pointed to another guy. "You, come here I'll need help lifting her." I pulled the stretcher close to the car and locked the wheels so it wouldn't roll away. "Hello ma'am my name is Xander and i'm with EMS. I know you're in a lot of pain right now, but can you tell me what you're feeling?" She sniffled and nodded.

"My st-stomach. It's cramping really bad. I think my baby is coming." I nodded and opened the door. It creaked loudly in protest from the huge dent inside it. Her right arm was obviously broken but that wasn't my concern right now. A broken bone would heal. The way she was bleeding right now, her nor her baby would live.

I glanced over to the paramedics. The color drained from my face as I noticed one was doing cpr. I turned back to my patient.

"Ok miss. This is going to hurt, but we are going to pull you from the car, okay? Don't try to move, just let us do all the work. Your water has broken, but the baby could be in distress, so the less you move, the better. Do not push. Try to hold as long as you can." She nodded rapidly and tried to relax her body. I put a c-collar on her and grabbed her shoulders. I looked to the firefighter. "Grab her legs but be careful. We need to try and move as one since we don't have time for a KED. (Sitting back brace used when a patient has been in a car wreck and may have spinal injuries.) "
