Chapter 4 - Third meeting

I ran inside and shut the door to my apartment.

Then, I locked the door shut and went over to the couch, breathing heavily.

"What's wrong, honey?" my mom said walking out of the kitchen towards me.

"Frank is a freak that lives in a trashy, old, apartment, but hangs out with other dudes in an alley during the day."

She walks over to me and sits down beside me.

"What do you mean?"

I looked at her, but then sighed.

"I went down an alley that led from his apartment and saw him fighting another guy, but was more......disgusting."

"You went down an alley by yourself?! You know better than that! You know how many crazy people are out there!?

"I know, Mom!....It's just that...I felt like there was something different about him."

"Well, now you know."

I watched her get up from the couch and walk into her room, disappointed.

I sighed, feeling a sense of sadness.

Then I got up, and went to my room to finish unpacking my stuff.

Then, after I finished, I dozed off into a nice, long sleep.

I woke up and looked around my room.

Nothing seemed any different from last night.

I got up and went into the bathroom.

I splashed some water on my face to wake me up, then I brushed my teeth.

I walked out and sat back on my bed which sat across from the window.

Then I looked out onto the busy street below.

I watched as the cars went by and people went about their daily lives.

Whether they're business people or engineers or employees.

Everything seemed normal in the world.

I went to open the window to get some cool, fall air, but then, I noticed something peculiar.

I looked on the bottom part of the window and noticed a light hand print where you lift it.

I stood there, shocked.

But then, when I went to open it, my eyes widened with shock.

I put my hand under the window and slid it through.

It wasn't closed, as I had feared.

It was open and there were handprints on the window.

What else could that mean?

I walked out of my bedroom and over to my mom's room.

I slowly opened the door to see her laying there, sound asleep.

I walked over to her and nudged her a bit.

"...Mom?.."

She turned over towards me and looked at me.

"What?"

"Umm...did you come into my room last night, and open the window?"

She shook her head lightly, then she turned back on her side.

I felt my stomach tighten up.

Had someone broken into our house in the middle of the night?

I walked out of her room and back into my room.

Then, I sat on the bed and laid there in silence, thinking.

Who could it have been that broke into my room last night?

Well, whoever it was is pretty sneaky.

I looked over in front of my bookshelf and noticed something.

I saw a piece of paper crumbled up on the floor.

I got up from my bed and walked over to it and picked it up.

I uncrumbled it and looked at it.

There was a note on it.

"Hey, I'm really sorry for scaring you. I just wanted you to listen to me, but you ran away. Anyways, if you want to hear the truth about everything, I'll be waiting in the alley beside

the apartment building at 7 tonight. But only

if you really trust me."

Frank

I looked at it for a moment, then I laid it on the shelf.

Then, I sat on my bed and waited.
