Lake house

I threw the last of our bags into the back of Marcus's truck and closed the tailgate.

"Ready?" Jake asked me.

"Yes." I said with a wide smile.

I was excited. We always had fun at the lake house. We extended the trip from three weeks to six. That meant six weeks with jake and my friends and no interruptions. Jake and I would have the night to ourselves for a whole two months. I blushed just thinking about it.

"what've you been thinking about?" Jake asked me.

I leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to the hollow of his neck. "You'll find out later." I whispered in his ear.

He pu his hands on my hips and pulled me against him. "I better." he whispered back.

Excitement coursed through me and I kissed him.

"No kissing, guys." Cassie said, making fake gagging noises.

I pulled away and smiled up at him.

"Let's get going so we make it there in time to go out for dinner." Marcus said.

We walked over to my car and Cassie and Marcus climbed in the truck. Jake was driving since I got car sick during long drives. Once I was buckled, Jake started the car and followed Marcus out of the neighborhood.

"Are you okay, Emily?" Jake asked me after a minute of silence.

I looked over at him. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"You didn't want to do anything last night."

I shrugged. "I was saving it for tonight."

"I don't think I brought any condoms."

I laughed and playfully smacked his arms. "I brought some."

He smiled. "Good."

I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I was curled up on my seat with my head rested on Jake's lap. He had the radio on, but it wasn't as loud as he usually plays it.

"Hey, sleepy." Jake said softly.

"Hi." I yawned.

"Are you getting sick?"

"No, I'm fine."

"Okay. We're ten minutes away from the house."

"That's great."

"We're going to unpack, go out to eat, then go night swimming."

"Sounds fun."

He took a hand off the wheel and ran it through my hair. "Next week, there's that carnival next week. We can go there if you want."

"I love carnivals. You know that."

"I know. I was just making sure."

I sat up and stretched just as we pulled into the parking lot out in front of the lake house. We couldn't see the lake from here, but the house was right behind the sand. I pushed the blanket off and got out of the car just as Austin and Minnie ran out of the house. Minnie squealed loudly and pulled me into a tight hug when she reached me.

"Minnie!" I squealed.

"Emmie!" she squealed back.

I pulled out of her death grip and Austin pulled me into a bear hug.

"I missed my favorite cousin." he said in my ear.

"I missed you, too." I pulled away and looked up at him. "You got taller."
