Another shiver was sent through me as i hear a rumbeling sound beating from behind the walls. I did my best to calm the shakiness ratteling my every breath. Whoever it was about to come throught that door, they weren't going to view me as a coward.
As they slide open, only one word can escape my mouth.
"You."
I spit as i taste my own glare.
They smile as their coldness causes this fridged room to boil."Glad you recognize me." He says, enjoying the hatred that burns for him.
Junis was his name. And he was our leader.
Not an old man, infact he was anything but.
A boy, a little, arrogant, devil who took place of his father 5 years ago.
Lacelund, the true leader. Who was fair and kind, had disapeared out of thin air Years ago, his son took his place, that's when our lives began to fall apart.
Many tried to convince themselves that nothing jad. CHanged after lacelund and it had always been this bad. Only i knew better than that, so did mason.
Then we found the Rigs, musty sewer people they looked like at first , but they wanted the same thing we did. To get rid of Junis.
For months we trained and spied, mason struggled ocassionally, but i never left him behind, until now atleast.
Still he was a tall and skinny, even if he got in the way, his bravery always made up for it. Especially now, when he saved my life."Still working with the rigs i see."
He pushes some hair behind my ear as his ice cold fingers brush upon my swollen eye.
I jolt away from him."What did you to them!" I yell as my vioce breaks itself off.
Junis chuckles at my anger.
"Nothing as worse as what I did to you."
I wanted to scream, i wanted to run. But my feet carried me no where and my voice echoed no wail.
The fear of his punishment for me had almost settled, before i calmed myself. He'd already done it. I was fine. Even if i didn't know what it was.
"I'm unhappy to say recent crime is at a record high in our dear city. Everyone is getting ideas, everyone is rebeling."
"Then kill them, like you did mason."
I spit at him, he seemed to have no problem with taking lives of others and throwing them away.
Stared a look of pity, forcing it into my gaze, saying.
Oh, young love.
And then slaughtering it for amusement. He licked his lips slyly,"I can't kill everyone."
He starts to pace, guessing the cold of the room has finally hit him, or he winding himself up for a big explosion.
"I have decided to abolish the death sentence, after your little incident quite a few people started to talk, and not good talk."
His brow wrinkled tightly.
"The Rigs are gathering more people- i knew they wouldn't be defeated- i bet they're getting dozens of new members right now-"
A slap whipped across my face like a quick fews followed by a shaky burn to fuel an explosion.
A glare at Junis, he's ready to throw another.
"Those rebels will never suceed."
"Than can if I can help it."
"They would never accept you back, after what you did-"
"What? I died for them-"
i yell trying push myself up, failing of course.
"According to them, you're the one who turned them in."
He throws a slip of folded paper onto my lap.
My shoulders start to bob, my breath acts as though the air has morphed into the tank, and i am underwater again.
The punishment.I grab the piece of paper in my hand, it quivers with my touch. As the side unfold i see. It's an Identification card. It has a blonde girl for the picture.
"It's not the official one yet," he sneers
"You've made a mistake, this isnt me."
My voice shakes with the words.
"This is no mistake, this is justice, Annabel."
The room starts to spin, and i can only think one thing,
My name is Kimber, My name is Kimber.
