I press the green button on the phone and watch as it connects to Darcy's. Suddenly it stops, and an error message comes up on the screen:
Could not connect to service provider - number unreachable.
I smirk at my phone. Unreachable? Not this time!
Without even stopping to put my shoes on, I hop and skip down the street to Darcy's house. When I walk in, she's frowning at her computer, but when she sees me she smiles, and I smile back.
As I look over her shoulder at the computer screen, I hear something come through the letterbox. Picking it up, I realise that it's a leaflet for an audition.
Laughing, I hand a corner of the advert to Darcy, and together we tear it in half and throw it into the recycling bin. We don't need it anymore; our friendship is stronger than just a bond over a shared hobby.
The people at the theatre company were annoyed when I never showed up for the final audition. But I don't care, because my best friend means a lot to me and I'm sticking with her whether they like it or not.
