We got back to my house, dropped our stuff at the door and made our way into the kitchen. Mom was still at work and my dad is away on a trip this month. I made us some nachos and we sat at the breakfast bar. "So... Are you going to explain to me what happened back there?" Adam asked after a long awkward moment of silence.
I sighed and pushed my plate of nachos off to the side, "Adam... I'm in love with you..." I looked down at the floor, too afraid to look him in the eyes.
"Wait... You're what? What do you mean, you're in love with me?" He stammered. I looked up at him and he just stared at me with a very confused look in his eyes.
"I'm in love with you, and I have been since the moment we met Adam." I told him again, but this time with more detail. He looked at his nachos, his eyes widened as it sunk in. He stood up in one quick motion and walked over to the other side of my chair. "Lily... I'm so sorry... I had no idea." He looked into my eyes with pity. I know where this is going.
"Yeah Adam, that's cause I didn't want you to know. But you know now..." I said sarcastically and then I sighed again, I feel a millions times lighter than I ever have before. Now that the burden of this secret is gone I can breathe easy. I looked back at his face, he was really close, and it was weirding me out. I backed up a little bit.
"Lily I'm so sorry, I like some one else..."
"I know. I just needed to tell you this. Now... I guess I can start this 'healing process' or whatever." I smiled weakly. He look at me again but this time with compassion and love, but not the kind of love I had wished it was. Friendzoned.
