Dale and I exchanged glances. At least we aren't alone in this he** game. A guy with soft looking black hair and gorgeous green eyes. He somehow looked familiar. A girl walked in right behind him. Identical twins, except for the eyes. Acacia and Wess looked so similar it was sort of scary. "Hey!" Acacia squealed and ran over to me to give me a tight hug that was somewhat comforting. I scrunched my head back and gave her an awkward smile. "Hi." I said softly because of her hugging the breath out of me.
Joseph turns towards Dale. "This is Wess and Acacia, identical twins, and your new teammates. By the way we will start all of yours training today. Oh, and we will give you your outfits and sleeping quarters. " Joseph lead me and Acacia to a room with a bunkbed and two chests we could keep any stuff in. After, he left to show Dale and Wess theirs.
2 hours later
It was now dinner time, and we went to the dining hall. There was a buffet of all kinds of food. I was walking with Acacia and we sat down across from each other and were waiting for Wess and Dale. She was explaining some things about the game to me. "So, we have to compete, and if we make any mistakes, we will..." She continued, but Wess and Dale were starting to walk up towards us. She looked behind her and saw them."Anyways, if we make any mistakes, we will die from them." She said bluntly. "Ooo", Wess replied to her sarcastically with his hands up. "Whatever." She snarled back at him.
"Come on." Dale yelled softly. Of course he was already getting a plate and serving himself. "Mmm" I whispered softly. The assortment of food was amazing. I really couldn't choose only one thing.
I ended up with chicken alfredo, garlic bread, and peas. Over the time we spent in the dining hall, we chatted and stuffed ourselves full. Basically, Wess and Acacia talked about where they came from and what happened in their life up until now. They basically had the perfect life with perfect parents, in the perfect schools, growing up with the most perfect people. I was somehow jealous of their perfect life.
When it came to our turn to tell them how our life was, I couldn't. Dale explained most of it, while I sat there poking my food. I was embarrassed that we had to run away, I was honestly embarrassed about everything, especially that me and Dale let strangers take us here. "Wait, y'all were kidnapped?" Wess asked. "Yeah... we were taken after we came back from a trip. They came from everywhere." I replied shyly, and balled my hand into a fist.
Acacia breaks the silence, "Well, do you two even know about what they did during the surgery?" "Not one bit" Dale replies dryly. Acacia and Wess look at each other in shock. "What did they do?" Dale and I say in unison. "Well... let's just say they replaced some natural things with some unnatural things." Acacia said squeamishly. "What did they do to us?!" Dale said firmly hitting the table with his fists.
Acacia flinched slightly and sighed. "Th-They...They replaced some of your muscle and bone with bionic parts." "WHAT" I yelled at her. "Did they do that to you two, too?" Dale asked. "Sort of... But we didn't get our muscle and bone replaced, since we grew up in a good environment, we aren't as strong as you two, close, but not enough, so they replaced parts of our brain with chips that will help us solve problems fast." Wess replied bluntly.
I stood up and stumbled back. "What" I whispered in shock. I looked at the ground. How is that even possible? I swear these people are going to pay for this.
Wess' POV
Kate was looking at the ground. They didn't have to find out like this. It hurt me to see her like this, why did we have to tell them? She slowly walked backward, still staring at the ground. Dale on the other hand was rubbing his hands through his hair.
I slowly walked toward Kate. She looked up at me. Tears were rolling down her face. "It's okay." I whispered to her. "No" she softly replied. She stood still and sat down with her knees up to her face. I sat down in front of her. "Listen..." I continued calming her.
Kate's POV
"Listen, everything will be okay, all we have to do is win, then we can leave and forget all of this." Wess said. I looked up at him, taking a deep breath. Why do I have to be weak? I look behind him and see Dale pacing and Acacia following him, trying to calm him down. "Why are we such a wreck?" I whisper to myself. I look down again. Wess places his hand on my cheek and wipes my tears away. "It's going to be okay" he whispers to me. I look up at him and reply a small "thanks" and get up. I slowly walk over to Dale.
I pull Dale into a warm hug and bury my head into his shoulder. He lightly rubs my back and we just stood there realizing what's going to happen. What's already happened. What we are going to do.
