Before
"Kate! Come down here!!" My grandma yells. "What?" I sigh as I walk down the stairs. "How come you got a 73 on a test?" She asks. " Practically everyone failed, at least I passed. " I sigh. "Well why don't you act like Dale for once in a while and actually pass!" She yelled at me. " I did pass! Why can't you ever be optimistic about me?" I reply back. " Don't ever talk to me like that!" She screams back at me and slaps me across the face.

I run upstairs and lock myself in my room. She was banging on the door. " Kate! Kate, Im sorry, you know I didn't mean that. Just open the door and we'll talk about it." She pleaded. "No." I whisper to myself. After waiting for a reply she got impatient. " Kate, come out here you little brat, or I will bust in and beat you!!" She screamed through the door.

After she settled down and went downstairs, I opened my door. I silently walked halfway down the stairs. I heard my grandparents talking. " When's the child support coming in?" My grandpa asks hoarsely. " It should be coming in tomorrow, when it does, I'm gonna get a new outfit!" "Or maybe save it for our college?" I say softly. I walk back upstairs and see Dale's room open.

"Hey." I say opening the door. "What happened?" I quickly ask once I see a bag of frozen peas on his eye. "Grandpa happened. "
"Ugh." I groan as I sit down on the bed. " Do you want to leave?" He asks. "What?"

"Why can't we leave here and never come back, we don't deserve this treatment." He whispers to me. I thought about it for a second, but he was right, and I couldn't take it anymore. "Okay. "

2 days later

"Ready?" He asks locking the door. "Nope." I open the window and throw down our bags of supplies. "Ladies first. " I slowly climb down and hop on the ground. "Come on!" I whisper at him. He hops down and we ran. As fast as we could.

Now

It's been a couple days since training happened. Once we saw Joseph I smacked him across the face and screamed at him. He explained everything. He said we wouldn't know what's real and whats fake, so it could improve out skills. It never happened, they didn't hold Dale at gun point.

It was late at night, and I couldn't go to sleep. I was thirsty, so I quietly opened my room's door and walked down the hall to the dining room. I grabbed a glass and added ice, then water. I slowly pressed the glass to my lips and drank. I sat the glass down and rubbed my eyes.

There was someone there. I don't know who it was, but I slowly backed up. The figure creeped out of the shadows. "Get away from me." I whispered. I tripped on a cord running across the room and fell. The figure creeped towards me. I tried to crawl away. I got up and tried to run, but something hit my head, hard.

I reached up to the back of my head, and there was blood, alot of it. I collapsed and my vision slowly faded away, as they walked towards me. Acacia.

Hey guys! I am so sorry this chapter is short, but I'm going to try writing again.
