My Birthday

It is Julian and I's birthday today. When I was a freshman I went through that I'm going to be my own person phase and made my parents host two different parties for us. Even though we invited the same exact people as each other. It was stressful. Now none of us are allowed to have a party mostly because if we did my parents would have only four months of no parties a year and they can't handle that. What we do is we host one huge party inviting everyone we know and we celebrate it all together on July 22 every year. It was worked out great. That doesn't mean we don't celebrate at our house the day of our birthdays. We get cake and we sing and we play games. It is just the family. We don't even get presents on our birthdays because that is a lot of money. You may think of that as sad but it isn't really. I like it we only get get presents on Christmas from our parents but that doesn't mean don't get a lot of other presents from other family and friends. I smile looking at my ceiling. I have no idea what time it is but I know it is my birthday. I hear my phone ring and I get up.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Hey Fiona!" Kian yells through the phone I cringe away at the sudden loud noise. I double check the time on my phone. 12:02 am it reads.

"Why are you calling me at this hour and why are you so awake?" I ask. I don't usually stay up late.

"I wanted to be the first person to wish you happy birthday!" He says happily. I laugh into the phone rolling my eyes, "You are rolling your eyes aren't you." Kian says a few seconds after I rolled them.

"Yes." I say tiredly.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEST FRIEND!" Kian yells waking me up a little for a second. It doesn't last long before I start nodding off again, "Alright I'll see you later go back to sleep you." I barely hear Kian add before he hangs up as I drift off to sleep once more with a smile on my face. He called me his best friend

*~*~*~*

I wake up on my own terms. This time the sun is out. I smile remembering Kian's call. He is so awesome I have never had a friend do that. I get out of bed and run to Julian's room. I knock on his door. When he doesn't come I just let myself in. Julian's room is really messy. There is trash left and right and close treated in the same manner. It also smells like old socks. I cringe. I look at Julian's bed and notice he isn't there. I wonder what time it is. Our birthday would be during school but luckily this year it fell on a Saturday. My smile gets bigger. I love my birthday. I walk out of Julian's room and head downstairs. Once I am about halfway down I instantly smell the sweet aroma of pancakes. I jump a little once the smell hits my nose and I full on run down the stairs. Once in the dinning room I see my family eating already. My smile falls a little at this. I quickly shake it off when I see Julian. I skip over to him.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" I yell in his ear. It is a tradition we do. I wait for him to say the typical 'happy birthday to you too' but I don't get that.

"Thanks Fiona!" Is all he says then goes back to his pancakes. I give him a weird look before I take my seat next to him. Everyone is pretty much giving him the same look as me. Did he seriously forget we have the same birthday? I think to myself. I wait a few minutes before talking again.

"Don't you want to say something to me too?" I ask giving him bambi eyes. Julian looks at me confused.

"No. I said thanks already." He answers. I sigh loudly.

"You do remember we are twins right?"

"Yes..." Julian drawls out with pure confusion evident on his face. I roll my eyes at his blonde moment.

"We have the same birthday...we have for 17 years now." I say my age with a small smile. Julian and I can now rent rated R movies.

"OH MY GOSH I AM SO STUPID! HAPPY BIRTHDAY FIONA!" Julian yells hitting his forehead. I laugh.

"I am going to hold that against you forever. You know that right?"

"Yes. I deserve it." My whole family laughs. Once the laughing stops I pile my plate high with pancakes. I then drench then in syrup and begin eating them like it is the last meal I'll ever have. Once we are all done we all head to the living room. I go to the closet in out living room that has spare blankets, games, wii remotes, and anything else you might need in the living room. I grab twister. It is tradition to have Julian and I play twister on our birthday. Whoever is the last one standing doesn't have to do chores for two weeks. I have only lost twice since this all started when this all started when we were 8. I smile a mischeivous smile at Julian. He looks up at me once the whole living room goes silent looking at me, then him, then me again.
"Are you ready?" I ask my voice in a challenging tone.
"Oh yes." Julian says as he cracks his knuckles. John grabs the box from me and starts setting it up. Julian and I lock stares as we strech. We learned the hard way that if we don't strech first we will be in a lot of pain the next day. I have a faint smile on my lips as I strech my legs. John hands the spinny thing over to our mom signaling that we are about to begin. Julian and I take our spots on the mat streching one last time before we look at our mom waiting for her to make the first call.
"Right hand blue." She begins.
~*~*~*~
"I WON AGAIN! SUCK IT BRO!" I chant over everyones voices in Julian's ear. Julian just continues to lay on the floor staring at the ceiling. It was a long hard game and I moved in ways I didn't know were possible, but in the end I won and now I don't have to do chores for two weeks. Every game needs to have some sort of competetive aspect, and normal wins aren't fun. You have to make it interesting and have a lot riding on the outcome. I am snapped out of my thoughts when my phone is thrown into my hands. It is Kian again. I leave the living room to answer it.
"Hello again." I answer once I am in my room again. I lay down on my bed.
"Hey! When don't you do family stuff today?" he asks.
"Well... we probably won't be done here until after supper." I say. Then an idea pops in my head, "You could eat with us if you want. My family should get used to you if we are best friends...right?" The other end is silent making we worry. I hope I didn't miss hear him this morning when he called me his best friend.
"That actually sounds great. I had a fight with my parents anyway I don't want to have an awkward supper. When should I be there?" One thing I know about Kian's home life is it isn't happy. What he has told me is that his parents were never really in love. Their parents arranged their marriage. So growing up Kian's parents fought a lot. It isn't like they don't love him dearly, they just don't love eachother. I frown then answer,
"Come at 5:30 you can play monopoly with us." I say.
"Awesome see you then best friend." Kian says then hangs up.

Hey guys!
I hope you enjoyed this little filler chapter. I know I enjoyed writing it. :)
