Chapter 5: Why...

Sam's POV

Today is the day I ask out Sookie... Again! I know this time she'll say yes because I look so awesome right now. "How do I look?" I asked Taurtis. He coughed and said. "L-Looking good." He looked pale, which was strange. He never looks pale he looks almost as white as I do. "Taurtis you don't look so good." I said while he laid on the bed. "I'm not going to school today." He said while I got my phone out.

"Want me to tell Okami so you don't have to go to class today," I asked. He lightly nodded and then turned his back on me as he got some of his blanket. I texted Silly to tell her mom that Taurtis wasn't able to go to school today because he got even worse. I put my phone away and then I got my backpack. I got a bowl of cereal and then sat on the couch. I turned on the tv and I started watching SpongeBob, since it was the only thing that was on.

I put my bowl on the coffee table and then I lowered the volume. I felt my pocket vibrate and I assumed it was my phone. I reached into it and I got my phone out. It was a text from Silly. I checked it and she said that Okami was sympathetic about it and allowed it. "Taurtis, you're good to go! Enjoy your day here." I said while he didn't respond back. All I heard a was a loud coughing noise. I was becoming really concerned.

I continued to walk SpongeBob as I ate my lucky charms. I looked at the clock and there was still 18 minutes until the train departs from the station. I was thrilled. I am finally going to ask Sookie to be my girlfriend. I know I said that already but still I'm so excited! I finished my cereal and then drank the milk. When I finished I turned off the tv and then went into the room. "Well I'm going to school Taurtis, see you later." I said as he nodded.

I grabbed the keys while locking the door to the apartment. I then left my house and as I went down the stairs I started whistling a little bit. I walked to the lobby and the landlord was sleeping with the news paper on his face. I left the complex and then headed down the street to go to the store. I haven't been there in a while, since we hardly have money anymore. But I entered and I saw a couple of Doritos.

I looked around and there was nothing left to eat. "Pete, is there only Doritos left?" I asked Pete as I went to the counter. "Yeah, that's all." He said while I groaned and then grabbed a bag. "That'll be 200 Yen." He asked. I grabbed two yen bills and handed it to him. He gave me the bag and I walked out.

"Hi Sam." Silly said as I left the store. She was standing by the door as if she was waiting for me. "Hey Silly." I replied while I began walking, she followed me to buy a ticket. "So when are you going to.. Um... Ask out Sookie?" She asked. "Today!" I cried while I bought myself a ticket. She bought herself one while she paused. "Oh..." "Yeah I have a feeling she'll say yeah to me this time!" I said while we went to the train.

"Uh... Good luck Sammy..." She said while I stood in line. Sammy? Why did she call me that... Well I mean she does like me so I guess it's reasonable. I wanted to say something about it, but I let it slide. "Thanks Silly." I said while she nodded and grinned. It was our turn to go in, so I handed Pete the ticket, how did he get here so fast? I took a seat while Silly gave him her ticket. She took a seat next to me. "Where's your mom and dad? Don't you always go to the train with them?" I asked her.

"Oh, they'll be arriving in a different train. They went somewhere last night and left me alone." She said while I nodded. "Cool." I said. "Well hopefully Sookie does say yes to you... You're a really good guy, Sam. It's what... I like about you." She said while looking down with a red face. I smiled and then felt my own cheeks feel hot but I have no idea why. "Thanks, you're a good person too..." I told her.

The train started to depart from the station so we were off to school now...

Later at School...

Silly's POV

"Wanna come with me to ask out Sookie?" Sam asked me as I lightly nodded and clasped my hands together. I nervously looked up at him while my head was down. He makes me feel so shy... I never loved someone this much... "There she is." Sam said he pointed out Sookie, she was standing near her locker. Alone. "Sook Sook." He said while going closer to her.

"Oh. Hi Sam." She greeted as he smiled and said. "Hi Sookie, I was just saying hi... Hehe... Hi... Sookie." He said while chuckling. "Um..." She said uncomfortably. "I wanted to ask if you would like to date me? You know, go out to the movies with me?" He proposed.

"Sure I would like to go." She said, surprising me. My eyes shot wide open, she actually said yes to him? "Wait really?! Oh boy! Ok, what time should I pick you up?!" He cried while I looked down on the ground, sighing. He broke my heart... Right when I was saying I never loved someone as much as I love him... "After school sounds fine." She said while he nodded.

"Ok, so it's a date?" He asked. She shrugged and said. "Why not." Then left while closing her locker. Sam had a wide grin on his face while he noticed how upset I was. "Sorry Silly... It's just I never knew, you sort of told me a little bit too late." He said while patted my shoulder. "I would still like it if we remained friends."

I looked up at him. He had a happy, loving, and warm smile. I wanted to agree but I just couldn't. I took his hand off my shoulder and walked away without saying a word. I went up the stairs and started heading to the classroom. I tried my best not to cry. I never had a heartbreak before. So this is all new to me. I guess it was all just a lesson to be taught to me. I thought about Sam again. I could only ask myself... "Why Sam... Why would you do this to me? Why did you ask me to go with you... Why are you so attractive to me? Why Sam?... Why?..."
