Hermione rolls over, only to find the other side of the bed empty, yet again. Hermione yearns for the day Severus returns to her. This school year they haven't been able to see each other as much as precious years. Mostly because Severus is keeping an eye on their daughter, Rose. Her first year at Hogwarts, and Severus wants to make sure she is always okay.

Little Rose, she was put in Ravenclaw, which was obvious. The wit from both of her parents put no doubt in her parent's minds as to what house she would be chosen for. Hugo longs to be a Hufflepuff, like his cousin Teddy.

Hermione continues to lay in bed until she hears Hugo's feet patter into her room. He climbs into her bed and cuddles close to his mother.

"Morning, mommy," he sighs.

"Good morning," Hermione wraps her arms around him.

"Are you sure I can't go to the ball with you tonight?" He whines.

"Yes, I'm sure," Hermione chuckles. "You'll be staying with Your grandparents tonight."

Hermione had been invited to the Victory Ball. She is invited Every year, along with her friends, due to their help with winning the Battle of Hogwarts. Many of those invited don't go, especially those who didn't return to finish their education. Too many horrible memories.

Hermione goes, so she can see her home away from home and see all of her old teachers.

"But they don't do magic, they're no fun," Hugo sighs dramatically.

"You seem to enjoy the television." Hermione pokes his sides. He giggles and squirms.

"Fine, but you have to tell daddy I said hi," Hugo pouts.

"Of course I will, darling." Hermione rolls her eyes. "Now make sure you have your overnight bag packed. Grandma and Grandpa should be here soon." Hermione pokes his sides until he leaves the room.

With a sigh, Hermione rolls out of her bed and goes to her closet. She pulls out a purple satin dress. It's has lacy sleeves to rest off her shoulders and it's floor length.

Hermione lays the dress out and admires it.

The doorbell rings and Hermione goes to greet her parents. They take Hugo and drive away.

Now the house is empty, save for Hermione herself.

She enjoys a cup of coffee and a late breakfast. Finally she starts to get ready. Once her hair is swept up and her makeup applied Hermione apparates to Hogsmeade.

All of the ball invitees are supposed to meet in Hogsmeade them they'll take the carriages to Hogwarts.

Ginny, Luna, and Draco are there.

Ginny is wearing a silver dress. It makes her eyes pop. It's knee length with jewel encrusted sleeves.

Luna is wearing a bright pink sleeveless, tight, knee length dress. A large flower pops out on the front. Even after all these years Luna is still every bit as weird.

"Hello, Hermione!" Luna pulls Hermione in a large hug.

"Where's Harry and Ron?" Hermione looks around, noticing their absence.

"They are already at Hogwarts. They had some auror business there." Draco explains.

"Why would they need aurors and school?" Hermione asks with a puzzled glance.

"Hell if I know, Harry left too fast." Draco shrugs. "But I'm sure our children are fine." Draco reassures.

They pat the threstrals before boarding the carriage.

"Haven't been in one of these for years." Ginny sighs. This is Ginny's first year coming to the ball since they graduated. She has always been busy with Quidditch matches.

"Since our seventh year." Luna murmurs. The ride brings back memories to Hermione. All the rides to Hogwarts, each year a new mystery and new adventure.

She smile in memory if her last year. When her and Severus got together, fell in love.

They arrive at the gates to Hogwarts. It looks as beautiful as it did the year before and every year before that.

They file out if the carriage and walk towards the entrance.

"Mommy!" Rose runs out and ambushes Hermione. Hermione holds her daughter close to her.

"You look so beautiful," Hermione coos. Rose is wearing a sparkly pale green dress.

"So do you, love." Severus walks over to Hermione hugging her tight. "I have missed you." He murmurs.

"Momma!" Lorcan and Lysander fly out of the castle. James and his younger brother follow after.

Draco beams at his sons. James, a Gryffindor, is wearing deep red robes. Scorpius, a Slytherin, is wearing emerald green robes.

"Scorpius, you look great." Draco smiles. "As do you James,"

"Dad is inside," James points toward the castle. "He and uncle Ron are doing some top secret stuff with some other aurors."

"Why are there aurors here?" Hermione asks Severus.

"It's probably nothing, love. Don't worry about it." He responds.

Everyone goes inside.

"Ginny, how lovely to see you!" McGonagall exclaims. "I'm happy you were able to make it."

"Yeah, our match got cancelled tonight." Ginny shrugs. "I always love to go to a good party."

Students are moving toward the Great Hall. Rose takes off toward a small group.

Two aurors stand guard at the door. When Hermione goes in the Great Hall, she sees more aurors watching from the walls. Harry and Ron rush up.

"Hey 'Mione," they greet.

"Hey guys. Is everything okay?" She asks. They have never had guards at the ball before.

"Yeah, it's fine," Ron nods. They both leave and go to their spouses. The children have scattered to hang with their friends.

"There is no need to worry," Snape murmurs in Hermione's ear. "Enjoy the Ball." But every fiber in Hermione's body is tense, she isn't sure why.

"Welcome all, to the twentieth annual Victory Ball." McGonagall announces.
They go through the moment of silence. Then the party commences.

Hermione dances with Snape as they laugh and have a good time.
