I never did sleep, not for very long anyway. I kept losing and regaining consciousness. I was too cold to sleep. Ebony possibly saved me before I never woke up. She really cared about me. She half dragged, half carried me to the room at the back of the pub.
I remember nothing after, I passed out.

I finally woke up around afternoon. Amélie, Charlié and Ebony were seated around me. I suddenly felt all shy and hot and tried to sit up but I couldn't seem to lift my head. I was hungry and the delicious smell of onion soup wasn't helping very much at all. While I tried to sit up, Ebony carefully made me lay down again. She explained to me that I wasn't strong enough. I tried to speak but my voice was dry and crackly from thirst. I was warmer than before. It was hard with just one bed. We couldn't all fit in one bed.

I looked at Charlié. I said I needed food and water but my voice came out as a raspy whisper. Charlié understood at once. Ebony did too and told me that my soup would be here soon. "Ré, please stay here with us, we will take care of you, we promise" She said. I smiled at her and nodded. She smiled back and looked relieved.

How could I ever leave her?
She saved my life the previous night and I wish I could've done something in return.

I woke to the sound of a door creaking and I tried to sit up. Even entered the room, carrying a tray of warm onion soup. My tummy hurt from hunger and I felt dizzy from the lack of water and sleep. As I was too weak to feed myself, Ebony carefully spooned the contents of the bowl into my mouth. I appreciated it and I felt much better. I had a drink of water and then fell fast asleep.

When I regained consciousness the room was silent. Nobody was around. In Fact it felt too silent. I suddenly started panicking and I thought they had left me like my Parents. I began to cry. Then a few seconds later I gained control of my tears and told myself that they are just outside the door. I opened the door a crack to see what was going on outside. Everyone was at the table talking and having fun. Ebony was talking to Evan. Some of the others were having a game of cards.

The soup helped bring back most of my strength so I opened the door even further and opened the room. I saw Amélie and Charlié at a table. I walked over to them. When they saw me they smiled. "How're you feelin Ré?" Charlié asked. "Much better than before, how long have I been asleep?" I replied. "At least two hours" Amélie told me. I nodded and sat down at the table.

A few moments later, Ebony joined us. She stroked my hair like my Mama used to. "How are you Ré?" She said. "I'm really fine" I told her. She smiled.

From then on, my life was perfect. At least I thought it was. Little I knew how many challenges I was about to face.
