Soldiers are chasing us through the forest, me, Charlié and Amélie. We see the meadow. Ebony and Evan are awaiting us with open arms. I am so happy to see them. Suddenly I am thrown back and hit a tree hard. Tree vines wrap around me and I cannot breathe. Charlié is next to me and Amélie is crying for us to come down, but I cannot come down, can't she see?. Then one of the soldiers shoot her in the head with his rifle and to my horror, it is Jaden. He eats oatmeal and blood dribbles down his chin. I scream. Ebony and Evan have disappeared and Charlié whispers "I love you" to me before the vines pull his body in half.
I gasped and sat up in bed. The early morning sun shone in through the window hurting my eyes. Charlié and Jaden were not next to me. I was used to waking up alone. I decided to get up out of bed. My head hurt from all the stress I've been through and I felt sick. I ran to the window, leaned over and was sick in the bushes. After the blood rushed back into my head I felt heaps better and looked around outside. All I could see was meadow up until the horizon.
Just before I could make up my mind wether to stay or look for them, they came in through the door. I heard Charlié's voice say "Mine is bigger than yours". And Jaden's "nah uh Mine is an adult, yours is a baby". I smiled and walked from the room. When the boys saw me, they stopped their little argument and smiled "Hey Ré, Mine is bigger right?" I looked at what the boys had caught. They had two deer in their hands. "They are exactly the same size" I told then. They looked dumbfounded. "Ah" is all they said.
Jaden cooked the deer while Charlié and I sat under a tree and discussed our plans. We decided to wait a while before heading off to find Ebony and Evan. It was so risky with all the soldiers around. I told Charlié about the dream I had last night and he said it was all a dream.
"We are going to have to head off soon" I said to Jaden. "But you just came, I need to build a log hut, could you help me?" Charlié said we would before I could say we couldn't. I felt annoyed. Every second we wasted was affecting us finding our friends. I had enough at that point. I got up and told the boys I was gonna get firewood. Then when I was out of their sight I turned and ran.
I was going to continue the search alone.
