I started writing this book about two years ago (winter of 2014), and I kind of got bored of it and didn't know really where to go with it. But, on the car-ride home after Thanksgiving at my Grandparents', I was procrastinating I mean bored, so I was just reading old stories that I'd written. And, it was SO HILARIOUSLY FUNNY. The weird thing is, I see a lot of similarities between my story and Wings of Fire, but I hadn't read Wings of Fire until a year and a half or so later. Anyway, I'm thinking of continuing it. Also, the characters' names are still iffy, since my interest in names for my characters has changed over the years. Furthermore, I need title ideas. The former titles were 'Resistance' and 'Cats of the Wild', but those are so boring. Credits to anyone who can come up with a creative, cool name. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the preview!
Kia, a young leopard, is kidnapped by lions. Her mother is killed shortly before and her family doesn't know what has happened to her. She realizes that she is being dragged into a prophecy she has never even heard about. After escaping with a cheetah and a particularly nice lion cub, they set off to find Kia's family. But prophecy seems to subtly grow more important in her life and she begins to wonder: if she does find her family, will her life will ever be the same?
Kia It takes me a second to realize that it's raining. Fleta lands beside me. We all are awed by the sight of the tiny droplets plummeting to the ground. Mum said that, one day, when I was older, I would experience Rainday. It's so delicious and wondrous... and annoyingly wet. It feels like ants attacking my fur.
Alem Then, I see a lone lion loping toward the tree. Toward me! I try to think fast, but I'm glued to the branches. My mind is shouting at me to ESCAPE NOW!!! The lion gets closer, and I see that... it's... it's Alem! He scrambles up the tree.
"Hello," I say, feeling like I should be saying something other than that when he gives me an expectant look.
"Do I hear a thank you? Hello! I just saved your life over here!" he says in exasperation.Fleta "Yes, we know," Fleta says impatiently. "Flowers. Awesome. Now, let's go before we get caught." Fleta says and pushes ahead.
"You should appreciate the beauty; the rain-spirit only comes once a year," I tell her.
"And how are we supposed to do that if we aren't alive to enjoy it again? Let's go," Fleta urges.COMING SOON
