Chapter 4
The Compass That Everybody Wants to Get their Grimy Hands On
The next few weeks went by in a blur. Ella and Mike are finally getting around to actually talking to me and acknowledging me, but now I am hoping they do not. When they hate me, I have freedom to do as I wish; my whereabouts are not questioned and I have no responsibilities to attend to. Nevertheless, Ella this morning actually served me breakfast. I think it is rather appropriate that she has chosen to actually feed her eldest child…finally. Byron called me again...that does not mean I answered. I already know what he has to tell me. I don’t plan on hearing it aloud a few more times.
Tonight is Stefan's birthday, but he and Elena are dealing with a little spat. Why, I do not know. Caroline will be hosting his party and obviously, I am required to go, which isn’t such a bad thing since I do enjoy hanging out with my new friends. They were really easy going. I hope that tonight, I will have some fun...and NO I will not be getting drunk like last time. That was a very stupid idea of mine.
Damon’s Point of View
Damon leaned casually against the small bar inside the mansion, drinking some alcohol, until he noticed Stefan walking down the steps. He walked up to Stefan ready to say something sly. "Happy birthday, Stefan!" Damon cheered and patted Stefan's arm, a smirk playing on his lips. Stefan stared back confused. A term of endearment from Damon was so out of character. "Here," Damon offered the glass of alcohol to Stefan. Stefan flinched, not wanting it. "There's blood in it." he said and walked past Damon. Damon smirked and followed Stefan. "Well, duh!" he chuckled. "Live a little." Damon chimed in, while Stefan just laughs half-heartedly. Stefan would never stoop to Damon’s level, apparently.
However, little did Stefan know, he was going to lose that night.
Aria’s Point of View
"Aria! You're late!" Caroline crossed her arms across her chest and frowned. "Why? I want a quick explanation,” she stated. I looked at her in disbelief. Is this Barbie doll really sassing me, right now. I ought to send her flying across the room. Instead, I sighed and then answered her. "I stopped by Elena's to see how she was." I answered, speaking the truth. She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine, but you're staying longer to help clean up." she stated rudely and ran off after Damon. I rolled my eyes and walked towards the bar. As if she’s actually make me stay here to clean up. I did not plan on following orders given by this perky, snobby and reluctant blonde. She was a bimbo.
I came to the party in hopes for fun, but all I am doing is...nothing. Nothing fun, nothing amazing, I am doing something new, though. I climbed onto the bar stool, slightly spinning on it. I placed my bag on my lap and twisted the seat so it faced the bartender. "Hi, what can I get you?" he flashed me a smile. "I'm not familiar with the drinks." I stated embarrassingly, a slight blush creeping on my face and neck at his grin. He laughed and smiled, leaning slightly closer to me. "I know what to get you, and because I like you, it's on the house." he stated and fetched me a drink. "You are pathetic, useless, and shallow." I turned my head and saw Damon walking away from a stunned Caroline. Tears began to spill from her eyes, but she wiped them away quickly, hoping no one noticed. My brow furrowed, as Damon took a seat at the bar, two seats away from me. He was a heartbreaker. I almost felt bad for Caroline. "Bourbon." he mumbled to the same ‘tender as me.
