It was a windy afternoon, Norma Bates was busy doing paper work in her Motel office, when suddenly she heard a noise outside. She looked at her window but no one was there. She suddenly felt fear. Memories of the horrible things she had experienced had come to her head. Living in White Pine Bay is not all pretty because this town has its darkest secrets. To add it all, her son, Norman Bates, whom she loves so much more than everything in this world, had a problem of his own.
Norma tried to get a hold of herself, she took a bat and decided to go outside, her heart thumping loudly as she turn the knob and open the door. Norma quickly saw a figure and she hit it with her bat. It turns out that it was a girl, and she screamed and fell to the ground.
Norma was shocked, "Oh my God! I'm so sorry. You shouldn't sneak away like that!", she said and helped the girl stand up.
" It's totally my fault, Ma 'am. Sorry about that", answered the girl, "I saw this and I was hoping to apply for a job", she continued, still a little shaken and Norma saw that the girl was holding a 'WANTED' sign that she had put earlier.
Norma felt guilty and invited the girl to her house to treat her head. "This will help to lessen the swelling", Norma said as she put some ice to the girl's head.
"Thanks", said the girl. "My name is Faye Santos by the way".
"Norma Bates", answered Norma. "You didn't look like you're here. Where are you from?"
"New York, I just graduated high school but I can't afford college so I'm just looking for a job now", Faye said.
"And you came all this way just to find a job?", Norma asked suspiciously, "Why can't you just look for a job in New York?"
The girl suddenly looked down and answered, "I grew up in an orphanage, but I got out. I have live all my life on my own, trying to work while studying. But life just keeps screwing you up, you know? So I decided to leave it all behind and start anew. I just got on my car and drive and drive and I reached this place. Then, I saw the sign at your motel I had a new idea and I...", she finally stopped talking, feeling embarrassed. "I am so sorry for troubling you, Mrs. Bates. I would just be on my way. Thank you for help", she said and started to leave.
"Wait", Norma said to Faye. "Do you know anything about motels?"
"I never worked in one, but I can do house chores. I loved cleaning and I totally-"
"Fine, you're hired"
Faye was surprised, "Really?"
"Yes, we were having a quite number of customers, and I needed more staff especially the night shift..."
"I can do it", said Faye.
"Good", said Norma. "You can start tonight at 9pm sharp"
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Bates. You won't regret it. I would be totally here 15 minutes early".
"That's a start", Norma said smiling and added, "Welcome to Bates Motel".
