A small brown wolf opened her beautiful blue eyes only to see a matching set staring into hers. "Come on lazy bones!" The other wolf whined. She was tall and gray with white paws and muzzle. The small brown wolf moaned and rolled over.
"But Storm it's too early!" Storm rolled her eyes.
"It's in the afternoon!" She woofed, exasperated. The smaller wolf sat up slowly and shook off the scraps of moss from her pelt. "Fine let's go." she muttered. She waited until Storm turned around then pounced on her back. Storm gasped as the air was knocked out of her lungs. The smaller wolf laughed and raced out of the den and into the clearing.
She started having a conversation with a large black wolf when a screech sounded from the den. "FAWN!" Storm screeched and raced out of the den just to leap onto Fawn. Fawn's eyes bulged as Storm flew at her and knocked her down. The large black wolf just stood there laughing. The two wolves rolled around the clearing, screeching and clawing.
"Knock it off!" came a deep commanding voice. The two she wolves froze and broke apart. "What was that?" the voice came again. A large brown male with huge claws padded from the shadows. The two girls crouched down and showed the whites of their eyes.
"We are sorry Alpha, we were just playing." said Storm.
The alpha snorted. "That was playing?" He growled. "Get up and clean yourselves." he ordered. "Then, when you are done, grab two more wolves and go on a border patrol." Raising his voice to address the whole pack, he growled, "There will be no more fighting, understand?" The pack nodded their heads then went back to their business.
"Nice going Fawn!" Storm growled then stalked away to find two wolves willing to go on a patrol. A couple minutes later she returned with the large black wolf and a smaller tan she wolf. With a nod to Fawn, she led the way out of camp and towards the Forest packs border.
Fawn dragged behind and the large wolf waited for her to catch up. "What's wrong?" he asked quietly. Fawn just shook her head.
"Don't worry about it Night. I'm fine." Then she picked up her pace until she was walking next to the tan wolf. A rustling sound came from the far side of the trees and the patrol raced to see what it was. Fawn rounded the corner first and came face to face with a tall brown wolf with black paws and piercing green eyes. Something in Fawn clicked. There was something about this wolf that made her want to spill everything....
"Hi!" he exclaimed, "I'm Fallen, what's your name?" Fawn just growled and took a step forward.
"Get off the moor pack's territory." Then she whipped around and raced back to her patrol. But no matter what she tried, she couldn't get him out of her head.
