Leigh's P.O.V
Today is another day at Kingsley High. Everyone is making a big deal about the football game tonight. I guess it's the championship or something, I really don't know. I don't keep tabs on sports. I keep tabs on anything school or music related, but definitely not sports. My dad however is another story. All he EVER talks about is sports when he's not at work. Anyway, allow me to introduce my myself. My name is Leigh Nicole Jennings, born on January 14, 1996, and I'm 18 years old. I have one older sister named Monica Marie Jennings. She is a sophomore in college, while I'm a senior in high school at Kingsley High. Home of the Hawks. The MVP of every sport we offer is my best friend Ryder Kelly. Or should I say former best friend. We have known each other since basically we were born. Not to mention next door neighbors too. As soon as we hit high school, he started to excel at sports, and I started to excel at school. We were friends for half of freshman year, because we both played sports. Believe it or not, but I actually played a sport. I played volleyball. I ended up breaking my nose, and getting several black eyes. Yeah, that was the end of sports for me. All the black eyes made me need glasses, I don't remember exactly why, and everyone still makes fun of me because my nose is still kind of crooked. It's not as bad though. Ryder on the other hand was, and still is the complete opposite of me. He's not a complete and utter klutz, and doesn't do the greatest in school. He actually gets some of the smarter kids to do is homework for him, so he can stay on the sports teams. Now, how he gets them to do it, is beyond me. So yeah. Now that you know my life story, let's go back to the present day where we were.
Like I said, everyone was making such a big deal over this stupid football game, that in the hallway I couldn't even hear myself think. They were so loud. Let me set the scene for you. It's a Friday, there's a pep assembly, (which I dread) and a football game tonight, so in general it's gonna be pretty loud. I'm at my locker right now trying to put my books away, when someone bumps in to me.
"Umm. Can you watch where you're going next time. The least you can do is help me." My books and papers were scattered throughout the hallway.
"Geez I'm sorry." The mystery boy said. "Wait, Leigh is that you?" Then I recognized his voice. It was Ryder.
"Yeah, it is Ryder. Now can you help me up please?!?!"
"Yeah sure."
He reached out his hand, and I gladly accepted it.
"Damn Leigh. What made you become so bitchy?"
"You becoming a jerk! That's what." I slammed my locker shut, and headed towards the gym.
You're probably wondering why I was so rude to Ryder. Well, here's a little backstory. After Freshman year, Ryder started to change. It wasn't for the better either. He would shut you out, if you didn't play sports, or were a cheerleader. He even started to be rude to me, and I was supposed to be his best friend. Then whenever I would try to talk to him, he would treat me like I was garbage. I asked him why to. He said it was because he didn't want people to think he was friends with a nerd. Yep, he said it. The N word. Nerd. UCK! He knows I hate that word too. It makes me feel like I wear weird suspenders, knee socks, plaid skirts, blazers, polos, the list could go on forever. Which isn't true. I dress in style, and I do care about my appearance. I wear make up and do my hair everyday. I still don't understand how he thinks I'm a nerd, but he's not the only one. Pretty much the entire class does, and has for years. I expected it from them, but not Ryder.
Ok, my little backstory kind of turned in to a rant. Once I start, I just keep going, and I don't know when to shut up, so I just ramble on and on..........Oh my god Leigh breathe. You see my point now? Anyway, right now I'm sitting in the bleachers surrounded by a bunch of bimbos. They all have t shirts on that say either Future Mrs. Kelly, or Future Mrs. Hanson. Hanson is referring to Ryder's best guy friend Adam. This is going to be a long assembly.
