Hermione
Hermione had never been happier. The new relationship with Loki was going remarkably well, they spoke to each other every day, in the morning during breakfast, during lunch, or before she went to bed. Every weekend one went to visit the other. In Asgard, they go to a small bakery that resembled The Three Broomsticks(she always ordered a type of drink called mint skummet iste(which tasted like mint iced tea), and he ordered non-alcoholic cherry ale), and on Earth they would go down by the lake, closer to the quidditch field.
Ginny, Harry, and Ron were extremely happy for Hermione and Loki. She told them about what happened at the Burrow and up in Asgard. Ginny asked her if Loki was a good kisser, but Hermione told her it was none of her business, but Hermione knew the answer.
One weekend, in mid-May, Loki came to visit Hermione around 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Hermione was waiting for him, wearing a pink shirt and jeans, with two warm drinks in spill-proof mugs in hand; a green tea for Loki, and a mint tea for herself. She asked the house elves to make her the drinks, and they agreed.
Loki appeared, wearing a black trench coat with a silver collar. Hermione walked up to him, and handed him his tea. Loki grabbed the tea from her, and kissed her on the forehead. They sat on a few rocks, and looked over the lake.
"How are you?" asked Loki.
"A little stressed out. Exams are coming up."
"Understandable."
They talked for a while longer, then they were interrupted by a voice behind them. "Hermione."
"Harry," said Hermione, looking back at him. "Are you going somewhere?"
"Me and Dumbledore are going Horcrux hunting. We know where one is."
"Are you sure you're going to be safe?"
"Of course. I'll be with Dumbledore."
"Alright..."
Harry left. "You sounded unsure of that," said Loki.
"A little. Dumbledore's gotten a bit old, I don't know if he can protect Harry enough."
"He'll be okay," Loki assured her, looking at her. Hermione looked back at him.
"I'm worried, Loki. What if something happens and I never see you again?"
"Always remember that even if you can't see or hear me, I will always be with you. If I am a million miles away, injured, and about to die, and you are being held at wand-point, I'd still come to you because I will always do whatever I feel has to be done to keep you alive."
"Thank you, Loki, I feel much better."
A while later Loki had to leave. He kissed her goodbye, left, and Hermione walked up to the castle, and saw a large group of people huddled around the astronomy tower. Hermione fought her way through the crowd. She stopped. It was the dead body of Albus Dumbledore. Hermione felt tears streaming out of her eyes faster than a Firebolt.
She saw McGonagall, who wasn't crying, but certainly seemed very sad. She felt Harry nudge his way through everyone, then walk up to Dumbledore, kneel next to him, and take the Horcrux they found. She saw Ginny walk up to Harry and comfort him. She watched everyone else raise their wands to the sky, and she mimicked the action. She stood there for a long while, and was the last to leave.
When Hermione eventually got up to the common room, she saw everyone, huddled in a circle, comforting each other and drinking pumpkin juice or butterbeer. She walked up to the circle, and took a butterbeer. She then asked Ginny how he died. She explained that Snape killed him, and Hermione became infuriated. Dumbledore trusted Snape, and Snape killed him.
That son of a bitch.
Ron stood, and cleared his throat. Everyone looked up at him. "A toast," he said. "To Professor Albus Dumbledore, the best wizard on earth in our lifetimes."
Everyone drank. Hermione set down her butterbeer, went up to the dorm, sat in the windowsill, and dug her face in her knees. She did not communicate with Loki that night, but she would talk to him in the morning.
The next morning, she grabbed her book, purple ink, and a quill. She opened to a new page, and started writing.
Loki?
Why didn't you write last night?
Dumbledore's dead.
How?
Snape killed him.
That bastard. Are you okay?
I will be.
I know you will.
They wrote for a long while, until about 7, when someone entered the common room. "Students out of bed now!" called McGonagall. Everyone woke up and walked into the commons. She was holding a scroll. "Due to the events of last night, all classes and exams are cancelled. All of your guardians were contacted, and a few students are asked to return home. None in this house, however. All of the building is open to students to talk. The Great Hall will be in constant supply of food. Donnot feel like you have to remain in your dorms. Thank you for your time," she read. She then turned around and left the room.
Sorry this chapter was so short, I just couldn't think of what to add to it to make it long.
