Tyler
(Flashback)
I walk through aisles, searching for the ingredient that my mother needed to finish dinner. It was a spice I've never heard. And it didn't seem all that important, but my mother had said it was essential. I put up a fight at first, but in the end my mother won of course . She always did.
After spending about 10 minutes looking through the store, I found the stupid seasoning and walked up to the counter.
The woman working looked to be exhausted and not at all pleased to be here. Her head was held down and while she was scanning my item, refused to look at me. I'm not complaining though- less human interaction the better.
I was staring out the window, while she finished with getting the receipt. She handed me my bag and I was about to leave when she spoke up.
"Troy can you come here?" She yelled to the back of the store. My head whipped to the direction of the walking and my stomach dropped.
I knew hoping it was him was stupid. It was unrealistic for the Troy to be my Troye. But as the days kept ticking on, my hope was growing faint like a light that has been shining for far too long-Losing all its energy.
I needed it to be him.
A boy came from the direction, and he was standing with his head down. Not realizing that someone was studying him. It would be a lie to say that this guy didn't have familiar characteristics as my Troye. And I'd have to take into consideration that I haven't seen him for two years. A lot can happen in two years.
He was standing in front of me. Little did he know that his presence caused my head to pound and my heart to feel like it was about to burst out of my chest. If this was actually him... I don't know what would surprise me more. That here he was or that this whole time he was in the grocery store down the street.
" Troye.." I squeaked, not realizing the name had left my mouth. It caused him to look up though, ending my suspicions. He seemed like a nice boy, but he just wasn't my boy.
As he walked closer to me, I finally saw his name tag. It read 'Troy Stevens.' The spelling seemed so wrong even though most would justify it as the right way to spell it.
"Do I know you?" The Troy asked. I was speechless for a second, before I shook my head and turned to walk out of the store.I found my car and jumped in. Still in shock of the whole situation. I ran my hand through my hair and rested my head against the steering wheel.
Suddenly I realized what had just happened and my brain kicked in leaving me sobbing. Tears raced down my cheek and I couldn't breathe. I cried out, wishing that instead of this emotional pain it would be physical. It would hurt a lot less.
Once again my hopes got the best of me and I'd have to add another day to my timeframe of searching for him. It definitely wasn't the first that I thought I found him, and I knew it wouldn't be the last.
