The Rift in the Rock

The rift in the rock

Christ was wounded, not ruined
He was rifted, beaten and torn
He was willing, not commanded
His blood a sacrifice willingly poured

His flesh was broken, not his spirit
His soul stood strong through it all
He was silent, but he spoke a message
The message that God rules overall

He was beaten, and he was bruised
And all for the sake of God's plan
He died and he rose, setting us free
And now he sits at God's right hand

This rift in the Rock didn't make him weak
It gave us a place to rest
Now we all can abide in Jesus
Safe from storms in this perfect nest

This sacrifice was given, not taken
He died to save everyone
So just remember that you can be saved
All because God gave up his son.

This was written this morning right after church. The line that says " Christ was wounded, not ruined," is actually something my song leader said before we sang the song In the Rifted Rock I'm Resting. This poem was inspired by that. So if Dave Fehr is reading this, you inspired this poem. Thanks:)
