"Shoes!" Jessica yells and smiles. I roll my eyes and walk into Hot Topic and breathe in deep.
"My home..." I whisper and look through the shirts in the back corner. I hum along to the music playing, smiling at a girl who grabs a few shirts as well. The one store you don't get judged in.
"Wanna watch a movie?" Jessica asks as we walk. I shake my head and smile.
"We should head home..." I say. She nods and we make our way outside.
"I should've brought a frickin' jacket.." I mumble as I look at the dark clouds.
"Its gonna rain," Jessica nods. "Thats for sure." I quickly close the truck door and shiver.
"We'll be home shortly," She says and drives off.
Into our fifth time singing to My Chemical Romance songs, we spot a guy walking, dressed all in black. The light rain rolls off his leather jacket.
"Is that...." Jessica starts. We drive slowly beside him.
"Kayden get in!" I yell. He doesn't look at me as he keeps walking. I sigh and face Jessica.
"Go home," I say and get out. "We'll see you there, prepare two towels and hot showers!" She nods and drives off. I grab his wrist, he yanks away.
"Kayden!" I yell over the rain. It pours down now, I'm sure ill catch a cold.
"You'll get sick," he says and stops walking. He looks at me as if just realizing I was here. He takes off his jacket and faces me, then slides my arms into the sleeves and looks at me. "Don't get sick."
"Why do you care so much?" I ask. He shakes his head.
"Don't get sick." He repeats and traces my jaw line. "Don't get sick."
"Kayden.." I start as he leans in ever so slightly, and just breathes me in.
"Don't," he whispers. He pulls back suddenly, forcefully, and walks up the steps to the porch and runs his fingers through his hair. I follow and Peel off his jacket, he goes to his motorcycle and I grab his arm, then gently pull him to face me.
"What's wrong with you?" I ask, then realize how mean it sounds.
"Nothing," he says, not meeting my eyes.
"There's a story behind these," I say, touching the scars on his chest gently. He presses his hand against mine and closes his eyes. He raises his head up to the rain and sighs.
"Its too complicated, Anna." He finally says.
"Tell me, then." I say to him gently. He looks away, and I pull him closer.
"I want to but... I just can't." He whispers. "The past needs to stay gone.. okay?" He holds my hands and shakes slightly. He falls to his knees and starts sobbing. I kneel down beside him and feel him shake as I hold him and I get afraid that he'll break.
"Go," he says over the thunder. "You'll get sick."
"Come with me," I ask. "Please." He looks up at me, and cups my cheek, then nods.
He wraps the towel around me and kisses my forehead. "Go take a shower," he says to me. "Then come to the basement."
"Okay," I nod slightly and make my way upstairs to my room, where I see Jason has called me three times and left a couple texts.
1) Babe,
2) U OK?????
3) call me when u wake up, i guess...
I see he's calling again, and I ignore it, and go take my shower.
Kayden sits on his bed on his phone, wearing Batman Pajama bottoms and a Black Veil Brides shirt.
I knock on the wall, and he looks up.
"Hey I'll talk to you later," he says. "Bye bye."
"Did I interrupt you?" I ask. "Ill go-"
"No, come sit." He says, patting the bed next to him. I sit there, and he leans up next to me.
"You okay?" He asks me, turning down the tv.
"Yeah, of course." I say, toying with my necklace.
"Not sick?" He asks. I shake my head and look at his bracelets. I toy with them, to distract myself from not looking in his eyes for too long. When I glance up at him he's smiling.
The depressed Kayden is gone.
"What?" I ask.
"Nothing," he says, and yawns.
"If you're tired I'll go," I suggest. I just realized I've got a boyfriend in New York. Jason. Jason. Jason. Jason.
"Don't," he says and grabs my hand when I try. "Sleep with me."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Not sex," he says with a laugh. "Just, lay next to me and keep me warm."
Dad does keep the house freezing... oh, what the hell. I sigh and lay underneath the blanket with Kayden. I keep on my side, not facing him. Soon a warm arm snakes over to me and pulls me backward, then I turn over to face him.
Thank God it's really dark in here. He can't see my blush, but I hide my face in his chest anyway, then decide to stay like that and I listen as his breath evens out, he's asleep. His arm that's around my waist loosens as well. I relax slightly, apparently too slightly, as I fell asleep without knowing it.
The next day I woke up to a kiss on my forehead. I look at Kayden, all dressed and everything. His leather jacket clean and ready to go.
"Sorry if I woke you," he says quickly. "I didn't want to wake you want tell you I was leaving, but I guess I did.."
"Its fine," I say with a smile and sit up. "Aren't you doing a thing with my dad?" We walk upstairs into the kitchen, where Jessica raises her eyebrows at us.
"Yeah, but I'll be back by dinner," he assures. We walk past Jessica who can't seem to stop staring at us.
"I'll be here," I say as I sit on the couch.
"See you then," he says and nods then leaves. I notice the sun is out and not a cloud in sight.
"Boy," I say as I walk into the kitchen. "Texas weather sure is weir-" she's grinning. "What?"
"You lost it!" She squeals. "Anna lost her V card!"
"No!" I say frantically. "I did not loose a thing!"
"Its alright, I won't tell David about your crush."
"I don't get crushes on people," i retort. "I simply like them."
"Well go shower and stuff, but dont daydream of your 'like' in there."
But I do.
