"Chloe shut up your gonna end up making someone hear us!" I whisper yelled after Chloe practically fell out of the tree when climbed down.
"Sorry my foot slipped." She whispered back.
"Both of you shut up!" Shane whispered. We all were quiet as we ran out deeper to the woods. We figured that we were far enough out to stop and look around. I searched the ground and sniffed. I started to smell unfamiliar scents.
"Can you guys smell that?" I asked still sniffing around. I saw only Chloe sniffing, but Shane wasn't around. Then I felt fabric being tossed on me.
Out came Shane in his giant dark grey wolf form. Smart. He'd get a better sense of things in his wolf form.
I held onto his clothes knowing that he only gave them to me so he could shift back. I followed the trail of the scent, which lead up to tracks.
"Guys look!" I yelled brining Chloe and Shane up to the tracks. Shane immediately started to follow them, with Chloe and I right behind him. After walking for a few minutes Shane stopped abruptly.
Before I asked him what it was, I had already heard the soft talking. And it didn't come from people from my pack. Shane growled softly. I listened carefully to try and figure out what they were saying, Chloe was doing the same thing.
"You know that they'll find us soon." Said a girl.
"Yes I know dear sister, but they won't live to tell the rest of their pack." Said a guy, who sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Then why are we still here Ash, its not safe for us." The girl said. Wait, does that mean that Ash is here?
"You know why we are here, I've finally found my mate. Even if I did think that it was Mackenzie, I felt an attraction to her, only to find out that it's her daughter." Ash said.
This made me take a step back. I had a vampire mate? This couldn't be true. I must've stepped on a branch because there was a snap, then complete silence.
But it didn't last long. Ash and his sister had come out to see who was listening in on them.
"Well, well, well." Said Ash's sister and she looked hungry. Something tells me that the vampire gene runs in the family.
"Don't even think about it Liv." Ash warned taking a step in front of her. Shane growled fiercely.
"What about the bloody dog?" Liv said. "I'm so hungry." Liv's fangs were now visible as her eyes turned a deep crimson.
"You better tell her to back off." I said, taking a step in front of Shane, even though I knew he could protect himself.
"Liv back down." Ash ordered, Liv's fangs retracted and her eyes went back to normal.
"So what this about you being my mate?" I asked putting a hand on my hip.
"So your mother hasn't told you about how my brother was her mate?" Liv snapped.
"Yes, she had, but I never thought that your brother would end up being my mate." I snapped back. Shane nudged me. I expected that he wanted his clothes so I handed him them.
"This happens to be a really shitty situation." Shane said as he came back out from behind a tree.
"Not really, Hailey needs a werewolf mate so he can be alpha when her dad retires. No one would respect a vampire as their alpha." Chloe explained.
"That is if I'm actually a werewolf," Chloe gave me a look of misunderstanding, "Think about it. My mom had my dad as a mate but my mom was a werewolf, even though she didn't know it. And her parents weren't werewolves but my grandparents were."
