Chapter Six

The rest of the week of school went by quickly and before Keira knew it, Saturday had arrived and Jared and his father were coming to pick her up any minute. Keira quickly checked her bags to make sure she didn't forget anything. She had her pyjamas, change of clothes, spare underwear and bra, toothbrush, hair brush, charger... oh!

Just as Keira remembered to grab her phone, the doorbell rang and she heard her father's loud voice ring out, "Who the hell is that?"

"I'll get it dad!" yelled Jakob. Thank god too, because Keira wasn't sure what her father would say if he opened the door and found Jared or his father standing there. Her father wasn't in the worst of moods, but he defiantly wasn't in one of his best. He's still letting her go, but there's still the chance that Keira would be leaving with a new mark on her somewhere.

"Keira! It's Jared!" called out her brother. Keira quickly grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs two at a time. When she got to the bottom, she almost stopped at the sight of Jared standing at her door in normal cloths. He was wearing jeans that hung low on his hips and a black singlet that really showed off his bulging arms. Keira felt her face and her... lower regions heating up. She quickly looked away and landed on her father. A very angry looking father too.

"Come here Keira," he demanded. Keira quickly walked over to him before he got impatient with her. She was surprised when he pulled her into a hug and Keira hesitantly hugged him back. In the background, she heard Jakob's sharp intake of breath and she knew that he was just as surprised as she was, that or he was worried that he might do something in front of Jared. "Don't say a word," he whispered in my ear, while digging his fingers into my arms, making sure that he left bruises. She didn't have to ask what he meant by that. She knew not to say a word about what he does to her; Keira would be stupid if she did.

Her father released her and she walked out the door with Jared. He snuck a glance at her and shot her a concerned look. Clearly he caught her father squeezing her harder than normal, but she smiled back at him as if nothing was wrong. Jared and Keira got into his father's car and they drove off back to his house. Keira smiled at the thought of being with her friends and she was determined to not let her father spoil it.

"Hey Keira!" everyone yelled as Jared and Keira walked in the door. She looked around and noticed that everyone was here already.

"Hey guys!" she yelled back, just as Daniel came up and swung her around in a breath stilling hug. She laughed while hiding a winced when he pressed too hard on the bruises that her father left on her before. When he put her down again, she got a bit dizzy from being spun around in circles and fell to the ground in front of everyone.

"Yes!" yelled Daniel. "I made Keira fall for me!" Everyone, including Keira, laughed at Daniel and his childish acts. Then Daniel was nice enough to help Keira back up. He kept a hand on her just to make sure that she wouldn't fall over again.

"Daniel, you're such an idiot," hissed Jared, who was the only one who didn't laugh at his best friend's joke. In fact, Keira thought, he almost looked like he was ready to punch Daniel. She knew that because she could see that same look in his eyes that her father got when he was about to hit her. The difference between them is that Jared doesn't actually want to hurt his friend.

"I think Jared's a bit jealous of our love," whispered Daniel in Keira's ear. Keira was still laughing form before, so when she heard him say that, she started to coke on air, surprised that he would say that. She knew that he was only joking, but she still didn't expect it.
