"My name is Sebastion Castellanos. Can I have yours?"

I sat there in silent shock. Yes, he had surprised me by the sudden noise of his deep voice filling the room. Yes, I was probably sitting there staring off into space. Yes, my mouth probably hung open, making me look less human and more like a gabbing fish. Yes, I was sitting there drenched in wet gooey blood which would soon start to dry, trying to talk to this man by the name of Sebastion Castellanos. Yes, I looked like an idiot.

But yet...

I know I'd heard that name before....
Somewhere in the mystery of the past. Where and when you might ask? That was a question of which the answer was unknown... Even to me.

Sebastion sat in front of me, staring expectantly, as he waited for me to introduce was myself.
But we weren't really getting anywhere...
He was clearly getting tired of waiting so he cleared his throat. The noise seemed to shock me back straight into reality as it bounced and echoed off of the large, stone walls.
With a jolt, I found myself looking at his blurry figure. He was a bit closer than I remembered as he reached forward. Then I saw a shadowy, tan blur pass in front of my face. Then back again.
The silence ringing in my ears was astounding. Then it was like a ringing. Then a high pitched buzzing. It was getting on my nerves. Wouldn't it just go away?
"You can't see very well, can you?" His voice interrupted and eradicated the ever so annoying buzz in my ear.

Thank goodness

"What?" I said in a higher pitched voice than I usually would have.
"You're eyes..." He said slightly annoyed. " Do you have impaired eye sight?"

"Oh..." I said as I turned my eyes downwards. I blushed red with embarrassment.
I couldn't let him know that I had bad vision... That would make me seem weak. If I was weak, I knew I wouldn't survive in... Wherever we were.
I looked up again as I spoke "N-no... My eyes are perfectly fine! " I lied.
I thought that I seemed pretty convincing.
He on the other hand, not so much.
"That's clearly a lie," he scoffed in an annoyed tone. " I'm a detective. And my... Detective skills... tell me I have a lier sitting in front of me. A pretty bad one too." He stated matter of factly.

I knew I could pull off better lying skills than this! Hadn't I, ever so many times before? It was part of my job wasn't it?

So, SO stupid of me to stutter! So stupid of me to get embarrassed!
It was pretty clear that if Sebastion knew that I couldn't see, didn't have my contacts, didn't have my glasses, he would consider me unhelpful. Just dead weight.

I had already been that before.

And I was determined to never, ever be dead weight again.

Then a thought sprung into my head, "Oh, well Mr. Castellanos... I actually do have my contacts right here if you will look." As I said that I retracted the seemingly filled contact container and waved it I front of his face. "So yes," I admitted willingly. "I have a sight impediment," but here comes... "but I promise I will not have a problem seeing after I put my contacts in!" The dreaded lie was said. And surprisingly, even I was impressed that I said so it so confidently, I almost even believed myself.
But Mr. Old School Detective still seemed a little unsure.
"Are you... sure?" He said with a skeptical look.
"Yes of course I'm sure!" I said in an almost joking time. I clicked open the box and felt inside.
I was expecting what I had felt last time. Just the cold hard plastic. Except...

The contacts...
They were sitting inside the container...
As if I had had them ready to put in.

I sat there and just to make sure they were there, picked them up on my finger. Yep. They were solid.
But... how?

How did they get there? I swear I checked! They weren't there! I could swear it on my life!
But yet, there they were...

Deciding to, even though I was confused as hell, take the light of the situation, I pulled down my eye lid and inserted the contact with my right hand into my eye, blinked for a minute, and then proceeded to do the same with the other contact. I blinked for a minute so my eyes could adjust.

After I was done, I closed the box and stuffed it in my sticky lab coat pocket.
Then I looked up to the man sitting in front of me.

I was finally able to get a good look at him.

I noticed he was looking directly at me, but at that moment I really and honestly didn't care.
I was right about the dark hair. He had black hair that looked like it might have been combed this morning, but by the looks of it now, just swept back and tangled a bit.
He had dark brown scruff on his jawline, the bottom of his chin and above his lip. His nose was wide and rounded, with a pale scar, almost touching his nose, sliced his lip.
I could also see that he had two old scars on his right cheek, almost like two slashes, completely parallel from each other going down following his cheekbone.
His chin had an indention curving the skin just the tiniest bit. His face was covered in dried blood and scabs.
He had chocolatey brown eyes, framed by brows identical in color to his scruff. He wore a white dress shirt with a black striped vest over it. Around the collar of his white shirt, he had a red tie, not too tight, but just enough, hanging from his neck.

I also then just noticed the gigantic gash on his leg.
"Wait don't move!" I said loudly. It was almost a shout, but not quite.
He tensed when I said that startling statement so quickly.
I grabbed his leg to inspect the wound. It was quite large, and quite deep too. It had to have severed his calf muscle. There was no way that it wasn't disconnected.
The rip looked as if something had torn through quickly. It wasn't a slice because his pants leg wasn't cleanly torn. It had pieces of fabric shredded. "What in hell did you do?!" I said looking of from his wound to meet his eyes.
"You haven't seen him for yourself?" He asked in shock.
"No." I replied inspecting the wound. I shivered unintentionally. I didn't think I want to know who he was anytime soon. "I just woke up in the sickening pool down there. I don't even remember how I got here..." I whispered. I must have poked his wound or something because at that moment he shouted out. "Shit woman don't do that!" He tensed up curling his hand in a fist.

"Crap, I'm so sorry!" I said in a rushed reply. I feel like an idiot. I'm a damn doctor aren't I? Shouldn't I be able to do this without him screaming in fucking pain?

"It's okay..." He said through a grunt. "Go ahead..." I reached into my pocket and grabbed the bandage wrap I had stuffed in my pocket. But I only had the wrap, no medicine, not even a simple pain killer to help...
I unfolded the wrap and showed him.
"I'm gonna just wrap it, is that okay?" I wanted to ask for permission before trying to help start treating the wound.
He slowly nodded yes while gritting his teeth, and I proceeded to wrap his leg.

In the end he was in slightly less pain then before. At this moment we were both sitting across from each other.

"So," he said slightly with a straight face, but his eyes showed a slight smile. "Can you finally introduce yourself?"

I just chuckled slightly. "Sorry about earlier..." I said. I was still wondering where those contacts came from....

"My name is Doctor Emily Robinson, a pleasure to meet you Mr. Castellanos."
