It's odd, having the best players from two rivaling teams play as one. We've never practiced together, never played together. It should be interesting to see how we perform as a team and not as competitors. Coach had Chris and I be captains ironically.

Chris holds out a hand," truce for now?"

I raise an eyebrow at him but shake his hand," truce for now."

Chris sharply tugs on my arm so we're closer together," I'm doing this for my sister. One wrong move and I will ruin you."

I don't back down to his threat," good thing I won't make a wrong move then."
------
I notice Adeline immediately amongst the fans. Her blonde hair falls in waves around her shoulders and Lydia follows, with equally bright red hair. The two settle down next to Sonia and I grin. It's amazing that my two favorite girls get along.

"Stop staring, Butler," coach warms. I shake out the tension in my shoulders and start warmups. When the northern team makes their way out of the locker rooms, the entire crowd seems to go ballistic.

I gather the team into a huddle with Chris' help.

"Remember this game is for fun. A fund raiser for the state. So let's have fun kicking their asses for charity!" Chris exclaims.

"Who's with me?" He asks. We all shout out. The defensive line, including Cole, settle on the bench while Chris, the offensive players, and I make our way onto the field.

"Ready to kick some sweet, northerner ass?" He asks me. I smirk, putting on my helmet.

"Hell yeah."

By halftime we're winning by a solid
21 points. The game is relatively fun, even with trash talk flying in every which way. I think someone told Chis to buy bra to support his double D
Sized ego. My recommendation was padded for extra comfort. He didn't take kindly to the joke.

Though Cole and Cory found it hysterical. The two seem to have hit it off and I'm not sure whether that's good or not.

By the time the game ends, Cole has ditched me. Instead of letting me ride home with him he claimed his family wanted "family time" and no friends were allowed. This leaves me without a ride and I go to the only person I can think Of since Sonia already left.

"Hey baby," I move Adeline's hair aside and press a kiss to the back of her neck. Her body tenses up for a moment as I wrap my arms around her from behind but she relaxes into me soon after.

"Good job out there," she compliments, leaning on me.

I grin, turning her to face me," thanks."

Her smile turns into a frown," I know that look. What do you want?"

I copy her expression with a frown of my own," can't a boyfriend be affectionate towards a girlfriend without being accused of wanting something?"

Adeline laughs," no."

I cave in," fine. Is there any way I could get a ride home with my gorgeous, irresistible girlfriend because Cole totally ditched me."

With a chuckle, Adeline nods," sure why not."
-----------

"No. No no no no," Chris immediately groans when he sees the two of us," I agreed to put up with him. But this is just not fair."

Lydia hits his arm violently and Chris' scowl turns into a fake smile," you're. Welcome. Any. Time." He says through clenched teeth.

I smirk," well that's very kind of you, Chris."

Leaving my bad next to his in the trunk, Adeline and I settle in the backseat. She immediately starts fumbling with the strings of my sweatshirt absently.

She seems tired. I quickly pull her so she's reclined against my chest, her head nuzzles into my sweatshirt. She lifts her feet so they sit on the seat also.

I wrap an arm loosely around her waist while the other comes to play with her hair. By now we're on the road, headed home.

Chris turns on the music, instantly causing me to complain.

"Country music is for wusses," I state. Chris sighs.

"Well Justin Bieber isn't much better," he answers.

Adeline groans in irritation but we continue to bicker. Even though I don't like Justin Bieber, I'll say I do just to aggravate Chris.

"He's more real than some rich ass guy singing about the hard life of picking corn," I say. Lydia sighs dramatically.
