Falling For Her

Chapter 45: Julian

I cringe at the sound of her voice," Ashley."

Adeline glances at me and then Ashley," ok I'm going to go back to the couch. Have fun."

She ignores me as I try to reach for her. I can hear her chuckling down the hall.

"How much is-"

Ashley grabs me by the collar of the shirt and tugs me closer," I'll give it to you for free for a kiss."

As she talks her fake nail drags down my cheek. I try to pull back but the collar my shirt traps me.

"No," I say, looking up at her.

What a mistake.

She tugs me forward violently, crashing her lips onto mine. Immediately I grab her hand and peel it off my shirt, tugging away from her as fast as I can.

"What the hell Ashley?" I exclaim.

"What?" She asks innocently," last month you liked that just fine. What changed?"

I dig my hand into my pocket, handing her a 20," you're not her. Keep the change."

I then shut the door in her face. She yelps and I roll my eyes, wiping my lips.

"Did she just kiss you?" Adeline blurts when I walk back into the living room.

"Yes but-"

"No it's ok I heard what you said," Adeline interrupts, wrapping her arms around my shoulders.

"It's true. Everybody is dull compared to you. I. Only. Want. You."

"Good," Adeline smiles," but I only want that food you have in your had."

She grabs it and leaps onto the couch as I groan," you ruined the moment!"

"Quit your whining and come cuddle with me!" Adeline commands.

Who could say no to that?

I'm munching on Chinese when my phone rings again. Adeline's fingers stop playing with my hair and I groan, trying to lure her hands back. She hands me my phone and my heart stops.

It's Cole.

For just a moment I had forgotten about Andy. How could I be such a bad friend?

"What happened?" I say to he phone," is he ok?

Cole sighs," sort of. He can't breath without that breathing machine yet. So things just got a little more complicated. They won't take him out of the coma unless he is self sufficient."

Andy is in a medically induced coma. That means they have control of when he wakes up.

"I'm back at the hospital and I know you're probably with Adeline but, Julian," Cole says," I need someone here and it sure as hell isn't going to be my parents."

I nod," yeah. I totally understand. I'll be there as soon as I can."

Cole hangs up the phone and I look up at Adeline," I feel like a horrible boyfriend but I've got to go... again."
