Waiting For The News

I didn't want my father to go see Hailey since he left us and he has no right but I didn't say anything.
I just sat back and found a magazine to read.
Cally brought me an aspirin and a glass of water.
I was grateful.
When I started by flipping through the magazine, I remembered that Hailey was getting her surgery.
I started panicking because...

1. I forgot.

2. My "father" was going to see her and would be mad when he found out.

3. They haven't reported anything back yet.

I ran out of the room to go ask Cally.
I didn't see her and I heard my mom waking up firm her sleep.
I ran to the cafeteria hoping to see her.
She wasn't there so I looked for Hailey's room.
I found it and saw my dad inside crying.
He must have found out about the surgery.
I walked in and mumbled a sorry to him.
He looked up with red eyes.
I don't know why he's crying so much.
I mean, I know I cried but I didn't think he would react this much.
I asked what was wrong, thinking maybe it was something else.
He said confused,
"They haven't told you yet?"
I just said,
"Well yeah, mom and I were the first to find out.".
Then he was really confused.
He said, "Then why are you taking the news so well? Where is your mother?"
I said, "We were in a room down the hall. And I'm taking it find because I know she'll make it through this. She's a fighter."
"Who your mother?"
Then it was my turn to be confused.
"Of course not! I meant Hailey. Moms fine."
He said with sad eyes, "I have something to tell you Rue. Let's go find your mother."
