Rue's Father POV:
I was crying in the room my baby was in before they took her for the surgery. Before...... They gave me the news. I was really scared. And it was even worse when she walked in. Rue. My other baby. I started crying. She was a blurry image due to my crying. She probably thought I was stupid. That I was a cry baby. She asked me questions and I answered halfheartledy.
"Then why are you taking the news so well? Where is your mother?" I was hoping she wasn't in a mental state. Especially because of the way Rue was acting. Then she stated, "We were in a room down the hall. And I'm taking it fine because I know she'll make it through this. She's a fighter." I almost started bawling. But something clicked. "Who, your mother?" Now it made sense. Her mother is staying strong for Rue. But this came out of her mouth next, "Of course not! I meant Hailey. Moms fine." Then my eyed went blurry. She doesn't know. "I have something to tell you Rue. Let's go find your mother." We walked silently down the hallway. She was thinking. I could tell. Her mother did the same thing. Her eyebrows scrunched together but not too much. And her eyes only focusing on one thing. But not enough for her to run into things. She was thinking about what I said. As I searched her face for realization, I saw something worse. Pain. She was probably thinking about how I left her and if Hailey didn't wake up....... Hailey never would have seen me again. And she may not ever see me again. I hope she does.
