Chapter 2 ||02- Chapter 2||

As he finished his meal, he felt a rain drop.

Wiping the blood off the corner of his mouth, he quickly disposed of the body; now soulless. Picking up his pace, he made his way out of the dark and dirty ally.

This is 21 year old Sebastian Mechielis.

No longer a human.

But a heartless demon.

He was a human with a beating heart once, not too long ago.

And all that changed when that heart was shattered and became unpieaceable.

27 August 1786. London, England. 6:15 am.

It was today.

The day he was first introduced to [Y/N]; a beautiful young lady inside out. And the only person who ever understood and listened to him.

A burning candle that illuminated his dark tunnel at the end.

But that flame was extinguished.

Too soon for his liking.

That day, he had slipped out of the manor quietly to attend to something important which was, putting it frankly, important to him only.

He didn't take long to reach his destination: a large field that was littered with all sorts of stones that jutted out which held the generally same thing : names of the deceased.

He quietly went over to the lone tree that stood in the middle of the field. That tree was so old, it's trunk was twisted and was starting to rot.

Just like the world.

He stood still at the foot of the tree, scanning the name engraved on the stone even if it wasn't the first time he did so.

It wrote:

MISS [Y/N] [L/N]
27 AUGUST 1780 --- 14 FEBRUARY 1786

DAUGHTER OF MAJOR GENERAL, LORD [L/N] AND HIS WIFE, LADY [L/N].

(I really need to observe tombstones)

It was starting to become a ritual for him to come here and pay respects to her. Ever since that day, he lived like a ghost; seemingly floating around the manor. Walking in, out or around the rooms; doing to his mother's bidding.

Ever since her death, he didn't really have anything to look forward to -- except maybe the once every two days visits to her grave.

He placed down the bouquet of forget-me-nots; it's significance all in it's name.

As he stood there silently, conjuring up her sweet face in his mind, he felt a sharp pang in his heart.

For six years ever since he became her so called "bodyguard", he had been hit tons of times with the reality of his position; the thought of him and her together more than what the society would have accepted had been nothing more than just a dream.

Truth to be told, he wouldn't mind being in that position.

From the corner of his eye, he saw a movement near the tombstones behind him.

But when he looked, he saw nothing.

And when he turned back...

"!"

He jumped back, startled by the presence in front of him...

Exhaling, he sighed tiredly. Not that demons were like humans and needed rest, he was just iffed by his thoughts lately.

Turning into a corner, he entered the abandoned manor of the [L/N] household.
